100 million deaths due to capitalism in the 20th century.

Ok, let me make this easy for you, I'll get you started:

I apologize to the men and women of the Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry, the Lord Strathconas Horse Armored Regiment,...

You can figure out the rest on your own. A little googling will find you listing of all the Canadian Armed Forces units that have suffered casualties in the field while you were cowardly and anonymously stabbing them in the back over the web.
smoke and mirrors.
i owe no one any apologies,.
you said that i posted some of the most hate filled posts you have seen.
"...Your posts contain some of the most hate-filled content I have seen on this forum."
you said i held in great contempt, those who believed differently than myself.
"....your utter contempt for anyone who thinks or feels differently from you."
prove these statements, or retract them.

Okay, so communism causes some deaths.

Capitalism causes some deaths.

I'd say it's not economic systems that cause death, but rather national governments which by their actions (or inactions) cause death.

You're not doing much for the image problems that you and your fellow philosophical spawn of Stalin suffer.

Pardalis referenced just such a post earlier in this thread. Your hatred and evil against fellow Canadians (and thousands of other US, British and allied servicemen) who gave their lives bringing light to a long darkened corner of the world is self-evident.

excellent point, and a fine 'diversion' back to thread topic.
it is so hard to carry on a civil discussion when distracted by nonsense.

there have been countries that have been oppressive to their own people.
there have been countries that wage wars in foreign lands for reasons that are dubious at best.
the latter seems to be largely the dominion of capitalist nations, with the usa at the forefront.
vietnam, cambodia, granada, iraq, afghanistan.....and next iran, or north korea...who knows.

Communism was a reaction to capitalism. If not for capitalism, communism would not exist. Ergo, every death that can be attributed to communism is ultimately capitalism's fault.

Let's just blame capitalism for everything bad that ever happened anywhere and move on.

Interesting point. We could extend that to include anything bad that will ever happen as well.

Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan, North Korea. Communists murdered millions of people in those countries.

The above post shows you are either trolling, ignorant of history or simply ignore everything contradictory to your ideology.

Cambodia - look up Pol Pot and the Khmer rouge 1975-1979.
Afghanistan - look up Soviet invasion from 1979-1988.
North Korea - look up events of 25th June 1950.

The latter was also done by men wearing pants as opposed to kilts. Pant wearers are just so damned evil. Simple solution though, just mandate that everyone wear kilts - World peace.

See? Isn't retarded logic fun to play with?

The fact is that communist nations have been the most politically repressive and caused the most death to their citizens. Funny how something so grand, so superior, has to kill so many of its citizens to implement the utoptia. As you say, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.

Nothing about capitalism demands war, communist regimes must oppress their own people or they will quickly be ousted for non-communist governments.

Imagine what the numbers would have been had Castro succeeded in convincing the Soviets to launch a total nuclear attack against the US.

The Nazi government of Germany exercised an enormous amount of control over what went on as it was necessary given its balance of accounts issues and rearmament plans.

Which I think illustrates the point that the nature of the government in charge of the nation is at least as important, if not more so, as the economic system the country nominally follows.

The governments of the US, UK, Canada, etc also exerted enormous control over their economies during WWII. It's a necessary component of such an incredibly large scale mobilization.

As you say though, the economic system isn't the culprit to be looked at in these situations, it's the political system. The same was true in the previous version of this thread where different people wanted to blame lots of deaths on communism.

people here love to talk about the communist death toll.
here is the elephant in the room:

the black book of capitalism.

An appendix provides an incomplete list of 20th century death tolls which Perrault attributes to the capitalist system. The list, which includes both combatant and noncombatant dead, includes an estimated 58 million dead from the First and Second World Wars, plus death tolls from various colonial wars, anticommunist wars and repressions, ethnic conflicts, and some victims of famines or malnutrition, which brings the incomplete list to a combined total of about 100 million deaths attributed to capitalism in the 20th century.

Does that include that capitalist scourge, Spanish Flu?

But communism is both an economic and a political system. The deaths are part and parcel of communism, there's no way around it.

Capitalism is silent on politics. There is no Capitalist Party, for example.
