Sure. They're actors, it's an acting job. They're not getting paid to believe in the product, just to sell it.

i once saw a christian fanatic show called the 700 club would the ppl who claim to be healed also fall into this catagory or would they just be considered delusional:mad:
 
When I first realized he was still going strong, I couldn't believe it.

The issue of not wanting to consider facts that might undermine one's faith in someone or something has come up for me a lot recently, as with one of my son's grade school friends whose mother is prepared to keep her son home on days when evolution is to be taught.

With an attitude like that, it doesn't surprise me at all that there are people willing to side with Popoff without any desire to consider another side to the story, even when they are given facts. In that case, it's willful ignorance.

I would think with others it is just accidental ignorance. Ignorance of the facts, ignorance of Popoff's past. There are still a lot of people in my parent's generation who are uncomfortable with computers and so don't have access to information the rest of us consider quite easy to come by.

I have also noticed that there is a willingness among Christian evangelicals to tolerate and forgive its leaders a lot of bad behavior if the person seems sufficiently repentant. I am thinking of Ted Haggard specifically but there are others. I suppose it's not necessarily a bad way to be, but it does make one vulnerable to repeat huckstering by the hucksters. I have no idea if Popoff ever made a public apology but either way, he may fall into this category for some people.
 
After outing Popoff on the Carson show, Randi said he got letters complaining that he was "interfering with God's work".

Not all actors are like that brother, trust me i am one of them.

I could at this very time be making a bit more than what i would be making as a pharmacy technician ( going to become a pharmacist, but right now going through school for tech.) , by joining pretty much all my high school acting friends in acting in ghost hunting documentaries. I had the offer, hell i had people from the producer, to the other actors trying to convince me, and i just couldn't do it. Even though, from a financial and media standpoint it would be the best choice for me.

Actors are not inherent scumbags willing to do anything acting related to get fame and coin, sure some are, but so are some doctors, lawyers and scientists.

And the money is good ( i also had offers from some religious film makers i met through both acting and my last job to do films of a religious nature, and again, turned down because of my morals. ) , because they cost nothing to produce, so the only real expense is actors, i just won't do it.

Please, give actors the same respect you give any group, and not jump to such broad conclusions.

First off, the "gal" in "desertgal" indicates that I am a woman, so I am not your "brother".

Secondly, please don't accuse me of a generalization that I did not make. Nowhere did I suggest that ALL actors are "inherent scumbags willing to do anything actor related", etc, nor was I disrespectful to the acting profession. If that is your interpretation, it was unintended.

The question was if those actors, specifically, really believe in that product, specifically. The answer is no. It's a job. An exchange of labor and skill for money. Are their scruples a little looser than yours? Probably. Did I say that was true of ALL actors? No.

Maybe by "that brother" he meant the other actor, you know, as in "fellow member of the Screen Actor's Guild" or something.

Not only is he still at it, but apparently, he makes MORE money today than he did before Randi exposed him... depressing, really.
