3 rules to happiness

These are the three keys to happiness:

2. Become a vegetarian, better yet a vegan. Sounds wierd, but its true. When your healthy, your happy. Heart disease would be extinct if we all were vegans. Obesity would be rare. We are killing ourselves and worse than that, we are chronically ill for much of our later years...due to our overindulgance in meat, dairy, oil, simple carbs. I really never believed in being a vegan until I saw "The Last Heart Attack" special on TV. It was based on Dr. Cauldwell Essyslstein's book. He claims that you can completely prevent heart disease and even reverse and treat heart disease with a vegan diet. So does Dr. Cornish and many other medical experts are slowly getting on the bandwagon. After being a vegan for a while I lost 25 pounds, ate all I wanted, and feel so good at 53 I almost feel guilty. And thanks to my arteries not being so blocked I no longer have a problem making my sexy wife happier too.

It sounds like your diet problem was more a matter of moderation(or the lack thereof) than meat.

And for me personally, I can't imagine anything less happy than a completely meatless existence.

Vegans don't live longer, it just seems longer.

In my experience, everyone around them feels like it's longer, too, depending on how much the vegan insists on talking about diet. Can't they just do it, rather than talk about it? I always think that when people insist on talking about their personal beliefs that much they're trying to convince themselves, not the audience.

3. Be unselfish. At first glance, being selfish seems like the smart thing to do. Making money, chasing women, buying myself nice things, impressing others with my accomplishments.

Strangely enough, just a couple of days ago, this article (Slight warning: some swearwords in it) deals with how money can, in fact, buy happiness. Have a read, reverebison.

I recently met a psychologist who had developed three rules for living a value-oriented life, though he didn't promise they would make you happy. His three rules are as follows:

1) No "dead man" rules: In other words, don't make your moral imperitives something a dead man can do better than you. Example: A dead man can refrain from lying better than you can. A dead man cannot hug his kid. You can.

2) Do the right thing without expectation of pay-back.

3) Do the right thing even if nobody ever knows you did it.

Holy you-know-what, I cannot imagine a healthy relationship with a jw.

I hope you have executed a medical power of attorney for yourself and your kids, to someone else who will allow you life-saving medical care if needed.

Good point there !

These are the three keys to happiness:

1. Your Spouse. Most important decision of your life. Your spouse or significant other. Of all the most important decisions imaginable, nothing is more important than this and unfortunately, this decision must be done at a time when you are young and inexperienced. Looks always fade, but personality is for a lifetime. I have been married three times and my early life was a living hell. I finally married someone for inner beauty and man did it pay off. No fighting. Laughter every day. I get on my knees and thank Goodness that I have her in my life and I want everyone to experience this kind of happiness. And I am an atheist, she a devout Jehovah Witness. And somehow it works.

3. Be unselfish. At first glance, being selfish seems like the smart thing to do. Making money, chasing women, buying myself nice things, impressing others with my accomplishments. But in the end, all that is an empty feeling and does not lead to happiness. Being faithful to my partner, giving to charities, helping a neighbor in need... it leads to happiness in a big way. I guess when we stray from reality we get hurt and being unselfish must have some basis in reality. Reality does say some day we die and we are ultimately expendable,,,spend as much time as you can thinking of others and as little time as you can thinking of some expendable entity such as yourself and even though you shouldn't want a reward,,,, in the end you get a nice reward,,,,its called just being happy.

Peace out.

Happy people don't spend time posting on an internet form that they're happy.

My three rules:
  1. Care about others.
  2. Accept that there are people who believe differently than you.
  3. Don't take anything too seriously.

Some people say that lean meat is acceptable in a healthy diet, though helping one's fellow man apparently sometimes leads to more frustration than happiness.
