Vaccines: how do I talk to my anti-vac wife about it?

You still need to tell us why combining five very small doses of antigens is even remotely problematic. How many different bacteria is an newborn exposed to in the first week of life? But that is seen as normal. Why is that exposure any less dangerous?

Yes, vaccines are thoroughly tested and even then they are monitored following approval for adverse effects.

Ok, but let's hope new less nasty inventions will be available soon. Technology, including biotech and medicine is improving at an accelerating rate that is starting to really speed up. So I'm hopeful about new inventions in medicine such as nanotech.

The same dose in a rabbit or guinea pig is even bigger! All vaccine combinations used in humans have been exhaustively tested in animals and in human trials. Moreover, each batch of vaccine is tested before it can be given to humans.

So now you've completely changed your mind from "too many vaccines" to "chemicals"? Which is it? Or are you just tossing stuff to see what sticks?

If the child has to receive each vaccine as an individual dose, then they will have to get many more shots, which means a lot more "chemicals" (preservatives and adjuvants). By combining the jabs you get much less. (not that it matters).

Unfortunately, the GPs and health care workers are not clued up into how the flu vaccine is made. A new vaccine is made every year, the H1N1 vaccine was no different.

Ok. One small correction: H1N1 can also mean the seasonal flu. Actually H1N1 is the most common subtype for the seasonal flu. The correct name for the recent Swine Flu is: Pandemic H1N1/09 virus.
 
It still astounds me that people are dim enough to believe that drugs go right from the research lab to your arm...
 
Daily Mail is a wingnut tabloid.

Everything you touch and every breath of air you breathe is loaded with pathogens. The door to the doctor's office has a higher viral load than the vaccine. Everything you eat is loaded with "chemicals", many of which haven't been extensively tested or studied. You are chemicals.

What makes vaccines "nasty"? The scary needles? The thing I find funny/sad about vaccine denialism is that vaccines actually do what many woo-pushers claim to do: pre-emptively train your body to defend itself. Vaccines are more "holistic" and "natural" than any CAM woo.

That plus the nasty chemicals and viruses in the vaccines. It's a horrible intrusion into the child imo. Are the vaccines needed? Maybe. I don't know enough about that so I admit that the vaccines may be necessary. At the same time I'm glad that many people are questioning the vaccines because otherwise the pharma industry can create a kind of Nazi/Communist totalitarian mandatory huge vaccination program even for adults. Yikes.

Whoa, you've been reading the Daily Fail too much. I don't know where to start with that.

ETA; Ok here's a starter. Mass vaccination is a government initative not big pharma. Vaccines can't be sold unless they have a government issued license.
