Gingrich: I'm the tortoise, Romney's the hare

Newt's big problem is that he only has the hard-core party members whio would never vote for a Democrat and some of the crazies on his team.
 
I'm beginning to think Obama is the tortoise.

Slowly consolidating a voting bloc that will be formidable - if it actually votes.

"As the debates accumulate, it becomes more and more evident that Newt Gingrich’s intellect, experience, articulateness and depth of knowledge elevate him to the top of the GOP field. Anyone should be happy to pay admission to watch him duel with President Obama in debate! He’s not as charismatic as Herman Cain or as smooth as Mitt Romney, but boy, does he have a brain!

Ever since the campaign started, Newt has always gotten in his own way. Now he has graciously stepped aside and let his creativity and intellect shine through.

Earlier in the debates, he bit the questioners’ heads off in a pique of surly crankiness. No longer. Now he just answers the questions as they come, often hitting them out of the ballpark. His perspective and insights are penetrating and his condescension has vanished (or at least is sublimated)."

Sure. The Republicans will ignore his serial marriages, his ethics charges, his blatant flip-flopping, etc. Just like last time he was the latest flash-in-the-pan and swooned. What's different this time?

The poor Republicans. Go with the weird underpants guy who actually implemented health care reform or go with the an old man who can't figure out where he stands.

Which is OK, I'm OK with Obama, and here's a secret ;) - so was McCain. He wanted to win, but he didn't care so much about being president.

My mom, to me the personification of the GOP base, is fine with Obama. Especially over a Mormon, which isn't fair. Nevertheless, I suspect a lot of people are fine with Obama, and that any attempt to demonize him is simply not going to work. He's a very smart, long-view kind of guy, and he's made the most out of a bad situation.

Dick Morris is one of those Jews just waiting for someone to take on Romney. Now he has his candidate. The word must have gone out to the Jewish elite that Romney is unacceptable.

Of course, Newt is hardly a perfect candidate himself, but out of this group of candidates he was my first choice, but also considered him unlikely to win the nomination or the race, and thought that he may have gaffed himself out early anyway, but now it very easily could come down to Romney and Gingrich as the choice. He appears head and shoulders above all the others with a grasp, facility and ease with all the issues of the day and politics of Washington. I would prefer Gingrich, but would also support Romney.
