Gingrich: I'm the tortoise, Romney's the hare

Newt's big problem is that he only has the hard-core party members whio would never vote for a Democrat and some of the crazies on his team.

I'm beginning to think Obama is the tortoise.

Slowly consolidating a voting bloc that will be formidable - if it actually votes.

"IS NEWT ELECTABLE? HELL, YES!"

By Dick Morris
11.16.2011

"As the debates accumulate, it becomes more and more evident that Newt Gingrich’s intellect, experience, articulateness and depth of knowledge elevate him to the top of the GOP field. Anyone should be happy to pay admission to watch him duel with President Obama in debate! He’s not as charismatic as Herman Cain or as smooth as Mitt Romney, but boy, does he have a brain!

Ever since the campaign started, Newt has always gotten in his own way. Now he has graciously stepped aside and let his creativity and intellect shine through.

Earlier in the debates, he bit the questioners’ heads off in a pique of surly crankiness. No longer. Now he just answers the questions as they come, often hitting them out of the ballpark. His perspective and insights are penetrating and his condescension has vanished (or at least is sublimated)."

"...If Newt is the candidate, will his personal baggage drag him down? It will hurt, no doubt about that. His marriages will be dissected by the media, and his family will be deluged with questions and well-laid traps.

His ratings will decline as the inevitable baptism of fire begins. As with Cain, he will experience a few bad weeks. But, as with Cain, his positive strengths will carry him through the fire and he will come out the other end.

But once Newt survives the process, he will be inoculated against the charges. He will have immunity against the issue."

It sure didn't take long into your post for the hilarity to begin.

But once Newt survives the process, he will be inoculated against the charges. He will have immunity against the issue.
Sure. The Republicans will ignore his serial marriages, his ethics charges, his blatant flip-flopping, etc. Just like last time he was the latest flash-in-the-pan and swooned. What's different this time?

The poor Republicans. Go with the weird underpants guy who actually implemented health care reform or go with the an old man who can't figure out where he stands.

Who are you rooting for, JB?

Now, there's a name from the past that inspires confidence and credibility! When I need an analysis of a situation and a strong track record of accurate predictions, I think "Dick Morris".

For example:
"But once Newt survives the process, he will be inoculated against the charges. He will have immunity against the issue."
Yep, sounds legit.

Ann Coulter rips Newt and makes a case for Romney:

http://townhall.com/columnists/anncoulter/2011/11/16/if_not_romney,_who_if_not_now,_when

"In addition to having an affair in the middle of Clinton's impeachment; apologizing to Jesse Jackson on behalf of J.C. Watts -- one of two black Republicans then in Congress –- for having criticized "poverty pimps," and then inviting Jackson to a State of the Union address; cutting a global warming commercial with Nancy Pelosi; supporting George Soros' candidate Dede Scozzafava in a congressional special election; appearing in public with the Rev. Al Sharpton to promote nonspecific education reform; and calling Paul Ryan's plan to save Social Security "right-wing social engineering," we found out this week that Gingrich was a recipient of Freddie Mac political money.

(Even I will admit, however, that Newt was great when he was chairman of GOPAC back in the '90s with Gay Gaines at the helm.)

Although Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- the institutions most responsible for the nation's current financial crisis -- were almost entirely Democratic cash cows, they managed to dirty up enough Republicans to make it seem like bipartisan corruption.

Wrong. Where do you come up with such garbage?

"November 5, 2011 — GOP presidential candidates Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich engaged in a 90-minute Lincoln-Douglas style debate Saturday evening at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center in The Woodlands, Texas hosted by the Texas Tea Party Patriots PAC broadcast live by C-SPAN."

This video is ample evidence of why Newt should be the Republican candidate.

So, which one was for slavery and which one was agin it?

And if he hadn't picked Palin he might have won.

Which is OK, I'm OK with Obama, and here's a secret ;) - so was McCain. He wanted to win, but he didn't care so much about being president.

My mom, to me the personification of the GOP base, is fine with Obama. Especially over a Mormon, which isn't fair. Nevertheless, I suspect a lot of people are fine with Obama, and that any attempt to demonize him is simply not going to work. He's a very smart, long-view kind of guy, and he's made the most out of a bad situation.

Show me the transcripts.

Dick Morris is one of those Jews just waiting for someone to take on Romney. Now he has his candidate. The word must have gone out to the Jewish elite that Romney is unacceptable.

Nope. Just another of your idiotic ne-nazi fantasies.

Is that all you think about? Morning noon and night, it's Jews this and Jews that.

Seriously

You just don't get it, Tim. Those other groups are composed of "just folks". The bad groups are filled with Jooooooooooooooooooooooos.

I wasn't rooting for Cain but wasn't against him either and was willing to give him serious consideration. He seems to be somewhat lacking substantively, as if he's already out of material, and he's finished if there's any truth to anything recently alleged, and he's probably on an irreversible polling decline already now anyway.

Without a Christie, or even better, a Rubio or Ryan to enthusiastically support,

after the brief Trump sideshow,

and not being any particular fan of or seeing any realistic prospect for Bachmann, Huntsman, or Santorum,

and never particularly enthusiastic for or against Romney,

and not liking Perry by first impressions, and then not liking him the more I saw of him lately, and then with him apparently appearing to be quite the bonehead tonight,

and while there's much about Ron Paul that I like, there are some hesitations, and also do not consider him likely to be able to win.

Of course, Newt is hardly a perfect candidate himself, but out of this group of candidates he was my first choice, but also considered him unlikely to win the nomination or the race, and thought that he may have gaffed himself out early anyway, but now it very easily could come down to Romney and Gingrich as the choice. He appears head and shoulders above all the others with a grasp, facility and ease with all the issues of the day and politics of Washington. I would prefer Gingrich, but would also support Romney.

wow...the GOP is certainly choosing from among the dregs.
don't you have anyone intelligent and viable?
who's next? ann coulter?
it appears that the GOP is working to re-elect obama in 2012.
