Occupy Wall Street better defend its identity

So does this mean you're a conservative, then?

On some, but definitely not all, issues.

Do you support the Tea party, incl. their views about "less government, less government, less government"? (Wouldn't mind hearing responses to this from some others here too)

To a significant degree, yes. But it wouldn't even matter in the context of this thread. Agree with them or not, the Tea Party has unquestionably acted more honorably, more lawfully, and more effectively than the OWS movement.

It's amusing to see how a thead on JREF about Occupy! becomes occupied those rude, domineering keyboard alphas who, not surprisingly, see nothing profoundly wrong with the current status quo and its illusion of democracy.
Straw. I don't think anyone here thinks the system is perfect as it stands. I've personally said that there are things that need fixing, yet the occutards are clearly deserving of the ridicule that they are receiving as a result of their antics.

I just got home from hanging out with Occupy Portland. Some observations:
Lots of police presence on the outskirts but the mood was very relaxed. Occupiers and police hanging out.
In the camp: young person with a pet rat and a random cat running through. A security tent with lockers for people to store their stuff, a medical tent, an information tent, a food tent and other onlookers liker ourselves just checking it out. Overflowing garbage, a port a poty but otherwise uneventful.
Adjacent to the parks with tents, there is a 3rd park that had what I assume to be the general counsel meeting. They had a large projected computer presentation and an amplified mic. The crowd here had people with laptops and older people and better dressed than the main encampment that we walked through. It seemed moderately organized and there was a designated person to answer questions for new comers.
From my perspective, there are generally two groups of folks participating, the more organized, educated, thoughtful and for lack of a better term, the general riff raff.
Another thing I noticed beyond the expected signs of 99% etc., were signs about no LNG and signs about the proposed pipeline which I didn't really expect. It was an overall good experience checking it out for my fiance and myself and we're really curious of how things will pan out with the enforced dismantlement of the encampment this weekend.
We're hoping for a peaceful resolution to this but we also know that many are determined to fight to the bitter end.

Occupy St. Louis closed last night:

Police arrested about two dozen people at an Occupy St. Louis encampment early Saturday, then began taking down the tents where the protesters have lived over the past several weeks.

Portland, Oakland and Salt Lake City Obamavilles are facing eviction orders tonight. My guess is that SLC folds easily, while the other two cities see violence. Vichy Oakland Mayor Quan may back down again.

It seems Quan asked for help from neighboring law enforcement agencies in Alameda County the first time, they were not pleased when the very nex day Quan folded like a cheap lawn chair and let them back in. County officials told Quan if she wants help this time she'll have to pay for it, since this is no longer an unexpected emergency.

Some Obamaville Oakland protestors have started to recognize the downside of their encampment being walled off from the rest of society:

"They popped off five shots and shot the dude," the protestor told Will. "He went down and I watched him take his last breath. It's not a movement any more. It's a place for someone to come and hide who has a parole hold. There are parolees at large hiding in there. I personally know of two guys they're looking for armed robbery hiding in there because the police won't go in there."

Vichy Oakland Mayor Quan may back down again.

She might have to.

“There are some chiefs and some city councils that I think are upset with having to keep sending officers to Oakland,” said Sgt. J.D. Nelson of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department. “And their point is: ‘Why are we sending people there when their own mayor can’t make a decision on what to do?’”

:D

Ben Smith says Obamaville is winning:

Whatever the objectives of protesters involved in Occupy Wall Street, they have succeeded in engaging the country in a conversation about income inequality.

A quick search of the news--including print articles, web stories and broadcast transcripts--via Nexis reveals a significant rise in the use of the term “income inequality,” from less than 91 instances in the week before the occupation started to almost 500 instances last week.

Charlie Sheen thought he was "winning" too.

Whatever happened to those kids who handcuffed themselves inside a barrel of cement?
