GOP to Planned Parenthood: Hand over records

This isn't the issue, I know, but even if PP used taxpayer money to fund abortions, the abortions probably saved taxpayers more money than they spent.

I wanted to put in a plug for abstinence education. Not abstinence only. When I was a teenager the pervasive social message was to have sex. This was during a brief period in history, after penicillin and the Pill but before AIDS, when hedonism seemed a little more viable. At the time it wouldn't have hurt for me to hear that it was OK not to have sex and that postponing it made a lot of sense.
Abstinence is taught as an option in comprehensive sex education. You may find this book interesting: Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education, 3RD EDITION. Key Concept 4: Sexual Behavior starts on page 50:
Sexual Behavior Life Behaviors:

Having applied the sexual behavior subconcepts at the appropriate age, the learner will be able to:

  • Enjoy and express one’s sexuality throughout life.

  • Express one’s sexuality in ways that are congruent with one’s values.

  • Enjoy sexual feelings without necessarily acting on them.
  • Discriminate between life-enhancing sexual behaviors and those that are harmful to self and/or others.

  • Express one’s sexuality while respecting the rights of others.

  • Seek new information to enhance one’s sexuality.

  • Engage in sexual relationships that are consensual, nonexploitative,

  • honest, pleasurable, and protected.

Topic 4: Sexual Abstinence

Subconcept: Abstinence from sexual intercourse is the most effective method of preventing pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.

Developmental Messages:

Level 2

  • Children are not physically or emotionally ready for sexual intercourse and other sexual behaviors.
Level 3

  • Abstinence means voluntarily choosing not to engage in certain behaviors.

  • Sexual abstinence means not engaging in any sexual behavior that can result in a pregnancy or STD, including HIV.

  • People may have different ideas about what constitutes abstinence, from no sexual contact of any kind including kissing, to only abstaining from sexual intercourse, and all points in-between.

  • People of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations can choose to be abstinent.

  • Sexual partners should discuss what they mean by abstinence.

  • Abstinence from intercourse has benefits for teenagers and adults.

  • Sexual abstinence is the best method to prevent pregnancy and STDs/HIV.

  • Young teenagers are not mature enough for a sexual relationship that includes intercourse.

  • Many adults believe school-age teenagers should not have sexual intercourse.

  • Some religions teach that sexual intercourse should only occur in marriage.

  • There are many ways to give and receive sexual pleasure without having intercourse.

  • Teenagers in romantic relationships can express their feelings without engaging in sexual intercourse.

  • Teenagers who date need to discuss sexual limits with their dating partners.

  • Individuals need to respect the sexual limits set by their partners.

  • Teenagers considering sexual activity should talk to a parent or other trusted adult about their decisions, contraception, and disease prevention.

  • Teenagers who have already had sexual intercourse can choose to be abstinent in that same relationship and/or in future relationships.

Level 4

  • Many teenagers have had sexual intercourse and many have not.

  • Sexual intercourse is not a way to achieve adulthood.

  • Many adults experience periods of abstinence.

And I've shown you the method you can use to research a question like this YOURSELF, instead of badgering people on the internet to figure things out for you.

You've been defending this investigation for pages, and the best response you can come up when challenged on the validity of it is to complain that people are bothering you and to demand they to the legwork to support your position?

Quite a dazzling display of argumentation.

Stearns is on a witch hunt. He has made slanderous accusations about Planned Parenthood to that end.

There has been no evidence presented that these accusations are true.

None.

Those on this forum arguing against abstinence as some sort of public policy miss its value in the moment for a particular individual, and just as "all politics is local", well, "all sex is personal".
There is nothing to prevent the religious whacktards from stating their preferrence that kids not be sexually active while teaching a course that is supposed to be scientificly correct. THey must, however, not be allowed to teach that sex is a horrible sin on religious grounds while being paid out of the public purse.

And there needs to be a law against teaching non-facts as science, like the A/O nutjons' teaching that condoms flat do not work.

There is no justification for paying for a separate A/O program, considering that many of its elements are total ********.

Add to that the fact that the worthless little maggot whose videos he relies on to stir up the shrieking monkeys is out to defeat any liberal cause she can, far beyond abortion, and the tactics appear even more Hitlerian or McCarthyan.

There is, in fact, evidence that Stearn's may be subborning perjury. He should be removed from congress if he dares call that sleaze bag Rose to testify.

Some things I've been wondering about:

-- How much federal funds are we talking about, and how does it compare to other federally funded programs that do not undergo special audits?

-- To whom are these records being given? A neutral organization headed by accountants, or a Congressional committee headed by Republicans?

-- What would happen if PP neglected/refused to comply? Does a "request" from Congress hold the weight of a subpeona?

To a whacktard republicon who thinks that Lila Rosa is a decent citizen with some evidence of wrong-doing on PP's part.

Confirmation bias, anyone?

Well, to be honest - all the data shows "abstinence only " education to be a total failure and result in as many unwanted pregnancies and STDs as no education whatsoever. That it fits your personal preconceptions based on religion explains why you advocate a failure over actual science.

Has pp actually helped stop std"s and unwanted pregnancy?

Abstinence is not going to stop anything. For 40 years you libs have taught kids to screw like rabbits.

More of your failed efforts.

Yes I have a project I would love to have him on. It has to do with the miserable EPA, the next agency to go down!

Yes, it has. Pay attention.

Teaching kids that condoms reduces the chance of either makes them more likely to use one. Teaching them that condoms are useless just leads them not to have condoms available when their animal nature over-rides the BS that the religious whackadoodles taught them in A/O sex ed.

I'm paying attention, as a critical thinker would say, prove it.

Only parents can curb their animal nature. But you libs have stolen parenting to.

Stupid has screwed alot of liberal darlings
Stupid is letting Massey energy dump arsenic in people's drinking water.

Stupid is letting republicons write environmental regs. The silly little drongos seem to think that mining company lobbyists are better at that than biologists and water chemists.

Wierd.

How? What has stopping parents from parenting?

My prediction is that you actually mean that education has stopped some parents from telling their children some lies unchallenged.

Government giving kids mixed signals.

Your prediction would be wrong.

Our family is having lots of success having our kids wait until marriage. Not drinking or doing drugs.

I know I grew up in a family like yours. I was bound and determined to do it another way.
