Clint Eastwood On Gay Marriage.

But ya know, acting is ummm a pretty girly-man career anyhow. It doesn't get my respect as much as oh, military careers? So why should I give a **** about what Clint says?

Audy Murphy, Steve McQueen, Jimmy Stewart, Ernest Borgnine, Neville Brand, Clark Gable, Peter Ustinov, Peter Sellers, Donald Pleasants, Benny Hill, even Dr. Ruth have lived a life of machismo. In comparison, Clint is an empty suit.

So what? What does that have to do with the issue of gay marriage?

And besides, Clint's not exactly a sissy. Son of factory workers, high school athlete, did a short stint in the Army (stateside) was once on a plane that crashed in the sea and he swam 3 miles back to shore, highly successful in brutally competitive fields, multiple kids with multiple non-wives (all of whom he supports)... not a Casper Milquetoast, this guy.

Which episode? (Or what was the story line?)
This was the one about the Osprey helicopter, I've traced it down to episode JAG 6.20 "To Walk On Wings". I don't know if you'll see me, I didn't watch it, but I'd be in the courtroom in my Marine colonel uniform, near the front row of the gallery. I know they did a slow pan across all of us but that means nothing - they may not have used it. It was a 3-day shoot for me and for that? Had to get all my hair chopped off!!! Here's a bad picture taken by another actor outside the courthouse between shots:

I give a ****. When I came to JREF I was outspokenly against gay marriage. After a year or so of not being able to find a compelling reason to deny anyone the right to marry the person they loved I decided to be for rights instead od indifferent or against. I'm glad I did. :)

Rand,

What I've never understood is what legitimate interest the state has in the definition of "marriage"?
Property laws, child support and inheritance I understand. But, these could all be covered under "domestic partnerships" I see marriage as an agreed on mutual promise between consenting adults. The only interest the state has is if there is a binding contract of mutual fidelity. Logically the genders of the mutual parties should be irrelevant.

A man can dream in the Land of Dreams but still - they usually don't come true...:(

Close as I got was walking past her trailer on the lot. These trailers are parked at various angles all over the place. Some are dressing rooms. Sometimes it's the honey wagon. Some are designated specifically for a star. Or maybe some featured or guest stars are sharing one. After awhile, like anything - you pay them no mind unless you're looking for one specifically (like the honey wagon).

She suddenly stepped out of her trailer as I walked by, she heading to the soundstage and me someplace else on the lot. We made eye contact and then... nothing. Typically stars, if they don't know you? You'll get the poker face of indifference, of inscrutability. Therefore I did not call her...:)

So if it doesn't effect you, it is not a cause your willing to fight for, even if it is in the right?

To each their own, but i find that line of logic more than a bit depressing. I'm bi and have no intentions of marrying anyone either, but i can understand that it is a huge right, and one to be given to everyone, even if i don't want it.

One has only so much time and energy to devote to "fighting"; certainly not enough to fight for every single "right" cause out there. I can forgive a person for choosing to prioritize his efforts.

Still closer than I'll ever be!

HeY! Clint is 'Merican. He swam 3 miles to shore, not girly kilometers.

Fordama

But 5 kilometres is more than 3 miles... (just, but still).

I'm not in favor of gay marriage. Not against it either.

I rank it up there with Toyota adding a little more blue into their next line of cars. Who gives a :rule10:?

Blue? :jaw-dropp

What is wrong with you?

Foster, I say Foster? Superficial? Why if that's not most ridiculous thing I ever hoyd. Cosmetic, too! I'd like two hard-boiled eggs. And one duck egg.

I was on (as a background actor) West Wing 3 times but am not sure of the episodes. They don't tell you that and I was already not a TV watcher at that time. I also think a lot of times they didn't even have a name for the episode during filming.

First time was When Darkness Descended On These Here United States (AKA Election Night in November 2000. Between shots, I watched, along with everyone else there, the returns and the Florida debacle on a soundstage at Warner Brothers). I was a Secret Service agent standing at a door entrance to the Oval Office. That one I'll never forget because Mr. Classiest Actor Ever, Martin Sheen, tapped me on the shoulder - stopped the shot, mind you - to welcome me to the show and to shake my hand. I was, understandably, non-plussed.

I was on maybe a month later as a Secret Service agent but it was just a walk down a hallway. 3rd and final time I was a Business Executive in some White House conference room, and that other guy, the balding guy (crap I have to google his name...AH...Bradley Whitford) came in and said something like, "Okay, let's get to work..."

Chances are you won't see me on that show, because you'd have to know the exact flash moment of where to look. But who knows? The only show I know of where you clearly see me is the Friends episode, the tux/formal party in the apartment, Courtney Cox's 30th birthday surprise party where she shows up drunk off her butt.

Where you at?

Where you at?

Hi Molinaro -

I can't look because I'm one of those Really Silly People who doesn't like to see himself on the screen. Not unique - a lot of actors are like that. Makes me cringe...:)

My family saw it and they described the points you can see me:

When the lights go out, so we can all hide behind furniture so when Monica comes in we can jump up and yell "Surprise!". Okay. What my brother tells me is I'm the last one you see before the set goes black - in fact the only one. I wasn't scene-stealing - I just could not get to my position, was blocked out of it. All of this is very carefully blocked out during the rehearsals and especially on that small set with that many people - you had to be exactly where they wanted you. Movements on a set are a lot like choreography. Anyway that's why I'm still standing.

Another spot is with 3 others, standing in a row, just behind Monica when she passes out and falls straight back behind the couch. I'm the guy bringing the wine glass up, and then I halt it when she falls. I guess you can see that? Dunno, but I remember doing it. Courtney Cox was cool, she was lying on the cushion back there, making faces at us...:)

For the life of me, I don't understand why anyone cares which places other people put their things, or how often and for how long they do it.

No, no, no, we're talking about MARRIAGE here.
That sort of thing doesn't happen anymore then. Right?
