I wouldn't walk across the street to say hello to him, but anybody I see in uniform gets my thanks and a handshake, and my card from Swords to Plowshares.

Yes. When you're talking about relatively trivial issues like gay marriage i have an incredibly hard time caring about it unless I or someone I care very deeply for is affected by it. Call it egoism, evil or whatever you want.
 
Back in his Rawhide days, his co-star was Eric Fleming (playing trail boss Gil Favor - I think.) Fleming was a well know gay actor during a period of time Hollywood was far then supportive. As I recall reading, Eastwood was quite supportive of his co-star.

I haven't missed many Eastwood movies but that one - I happily did. Holy living HELL.

I like his line in Coogan's Bluff, where he's atop a building looking out at the spread of Manhattan. Susan Clark comes up, asks what he's doing, he says something like: "Just trying to picture the way it was, with the river and the trees. Before people came in and messed it all up."

See? Tree-hugging librul.
 
I'm glad Clint Eastwood said that, because he is an influential person and a (nuanced) Republican. Maybe Lady Chablis wasn't surprised by his comments.

I always felt kind of sorry for Eric Fleming - Clint was SOOO much prettier than he was.

Kind of OT - our City Council voted when approving this year's budget to extend health insurance benefits to domestic partners of city employees. You would have thought they were considering making it legal to rape grandmothers in the streets.

I wish I could understand the kind of mindset that leads people to act like that. I'm pretty sure it's fear, but of what? Gay is not contagious, just like Black wasn't.
