Supreme drama?

Gods' nipples, not the stupid press conference again. Why? Are we supposed to believe that you can magically read the minds of people on a video? That's what you're professing to do by invoking this information - you claim to be able to discern some kind of mood or motivation behind their demeanor.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. They were hung-over during the press conference. The end.

SUPREME DRAMA?

To fly to the the moon, to shake oneself free of these thoughts which trouble our lives, such unnecessary, meaningless and cumbersome weights, to be consumed within fear's fire, and then delivered from that fire by the wind of roaring hope and to be placed by such sweetly violent air upon the divine soil of one so ancient, one so wise, one so revered, one so holy and one so haunted, one so haunted by all that is sacred, this would be a moment of supreme drama, a moment of supreme knowing.

None of the astronauts had such an experience. Not a one. Listen to Alan Bean as he is supposed to be descending to the moon's surface in the LM. Listen to Armstrong, Collins, Aldrin, listen to them all. Look into their eyes. They have seen, felt and been nowhere special my friends, we all know this because quite simply we are who we are, and these are men who have never been close to, let alone walked upon, the surface of the moon. They are nervous men, very very very nervous men, every last one of them. Anxious yes, but these men have no fear of the profound. They have never seen her face. Supreme deceit? Yes, why this is the root of their anxiety. The supreme and frightening drama of unsettling such hallowed dust is an experience none of these men know. It is all too obvious my friends.

The most telling feature of the farce.

Cod psychology
and irrelavent waffle
no basis for argument.

I strongly beg to differ drewid. It is the most telling feature of the farce, the astronauts' lack of fear, their lack of experience, their lack of knowing. Every word, every breath of their's betrays them. One hears it and can see it, feel it, every time they talk about doing what they obviously did not do. Little boys making up stories.

Or they were not demonstrative by nature, you don't want excitable types on a moon mission, who had shared an experience that there were simply no terrestrial reference points for. And if you think Aldrin had no sense of the sacred then you clearly know very little about his experience on the moon.
In short you know as little about psychology as you do spaceflight, medicine, history, and navigation.

It's just idle speculation, with an emphasis on the idle...

and on the speculation.

Nearly 3350 posts and still no proof.

I wonder why.

Every word, every breath mistake of their's mine betrays them me. One hears it and can see it, feel it, every time they I talk about doing what they I obviously did not do. A Little boy making up stories.

I corrected that for you Patrick but you really need to be more careful in future.

Knowing joy, knowing fear

Houston August 12 1969, the Apollo 11 Post Flight Press Conference.

Three nervous "astronauts". Their anxiety, ever evident, has persisted throughout their lives. They have not known fear, and have not known joy.

Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay. The thought of asking for photos, or rocks as proof never enters one's mind. These men know fear and the joy of its conquest. They summited Everest, the first to do so, and we knew it was true the first time they spoke of what they saw and felt. It just had to be.

So you want to equate an image of three men being peppered with question by eager newsmen at an event that is being broadcast to an audience of tens of millions with a picture of two men being photographed by a comrade with only their other colleagues in attendance? As I said before you're as ignorant of psychology as everything else.

And so, did you hear this "smiling" face speak at the press conference?????

And so, did you hear this "smiling" face speak at the Apollo 11 Post Flight Press Conference Matt? No, as I recall he wore a very different face that day as he has done each day after his "return" to earth. Measured, glum, anxious, and uninspired is our Neil Armstrong, each and every day of his life, not the first man to not walk on the surface of the moon, but the most visibly affected by that lack of experience.

It's really not worth replying to this idiocy. There is no proof.
It's just an unfounded opinion, and not even any expertise to back it up.

It's just waffle.

He's been wrong on everything else so he's now flailing around trying to find something else.

FLAIL he goes.

They weren't peppered with questions

They weren't peppered with questions. First of all, the shot there above is from the segment of the presentation during which Armstrong made introductory comments. Questions were a long way off. It was Armstrong's opportunity to simply make some opening remarks.

Secondly, for the most part, they remained this way thoughout the press conference with the exception of some occasional forced awkward laughter. For the most part, all three of them have remained "this way" for their entire lives.

Lastly, there were no hard questions asked at that press conference. Cite a one. Softballs all, never a moon rock of substance tossed their way.

I wonder how they would have responded if I got to ask am how it was that they claimed all of their tracking sources were in relatively good agreement as they descended to the surface of the moon, landing radar, PNGS, AGS, yet once the flight officers looked at that "data", there was no agreement at all, and additionally, their systems had located them 4 and a half miles from where "Tranquility Base" was said to be(00 41 15 north and 23 26 00 east)? How would they have answered that question Garrison?

Or what if I asked them on the day of the Apollo 11 Post Flight Press Conference why it was that the staff at Lick Observatory had received the coordinates of their landing site well before FIDO H. David Reed had made the appropriate calculations to find those coordinates? How would Neil Armstrong have answered my question that day Garrison, how it was that the Lick Observatory staff was told the landing site coordinates well before those coordinates were ever calculated? Why were you and the CapCom Neil still talking about how you didn't know where Tranquility Base was during day 6-7 of your journey? I heard you on the Voice Communication with my own ears Neil. The CapCom said it was the 64 thousand dollar question, your landing site coordinates were. But didn't you know Neil the scientists at Lick Observatory knew EXACTLY where Tranquility Base was? Even while you were having that conversation with the CapCom, on that very day, the scientists were shining a laser light right on the Eagle and the LRRR, didn't you know that Neil? And they proved it yesterday Neil, yesterday on 08/11/1969, the light bouncing back was finally caught. So while you were up there that night, 07/20/1969, they were shining a ruby red laser light right at you. Well not exactly, they were 900 some odd feet off because the scientists at Lick Observatory thought 00 41 15 north was 00 41 50 north, but still very close, and they got it right the very next day. Didn't you know that whole time you were talking to the CapCom and for all these days leading up to today, the Lick Observatory people knew all along where Tranquility Base was Neil? Exactly where it was at 00 41 15 north and 23 26 00 east! DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT NEIL? I THOUGHT YOU WERE THE COMMANDER OF THIS EXPEDITION AFTER ALL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????

Now THAT! would be peppered. Get a grip dude.

You posted a photo of Hilary and Tenzing after their climb showing their joy, I posted a photo of Armstrong after his Moon walk showing his joy. Your selective employment of standards of evidence defies belief.

Agreed. We gave him the rope, he's hung himself a thousand times. If there were any intellectually courageous fencesitters they've undoubtly decided his arguments have no merit.

Let the fool wither and fade away.
