Why not war against Islam?

I believe Bill originally brought up Lincoln vs. the Catholics as an argument from authority, in the rough form of 'If a man like Abraham Lincoln can hate a whole religion, it can't be intrinsically wrong to hate a whole religion'. Not only is the claim of Lincoln's anti-catholicism untrue as far as any reliable evidence can be found on it, if it were true, it means nothing, because Lincoln isn't an appropriate authority on such matters.

I really don't care if Lincoln was anti-Catholic, I just see no reason to think it was the case.

How well do you know Lincoln's history? His religious views were clearly unconventional, no matter the church he attended, 'protestant' doesn't exactly fit the man as a description of his religion. Christian freethinker, maybe. It's not very surprising that, like most modern freethinkers who don't see why Muslims shouldn't be treated like Christians in the eyes of the law, he didn't see why Catholics shouldn't be treated equally with Protestants. It wouldn't surprise me if he harbored some such anti-Catholic sentiment as a youth due to his upbringing, but it would be consistent with his writings to conclude that if so, he got over it.

No. It was a insignificant of another post. Him liking or disliking the Catholics would not have made a difference. If someone was enough of a fool to make an issue of it, who am I to stop them?

The Catholics backed he south in the civil war. It is probable that he did not like that. And there is a quote from a biography that Lincoln said he did not like him. Naturally, people think the guy quoting Lincoln was lying. I don't think he was.

Brigitte Gabriel was born a Christian, and is currently a Christian who, if not actually an evangelical, is sympathetic towards evangelicalism. She's not a Muslim, nor an ex-Muslim. In fact, she's started from the position that Islam and Muslims are Bad and Evil, for purely religious reasons.

Yeah, I called them. If you don't believe me, i couldn't give a rats ass. Convincing you is not even on my todo list.

I posted the contact of the one local one here on this web forum. Phone number, address, everything you needed to call them up.

Google the ones near where you live, it will save in long distance charges, and call them up for yourself.

I did some research to check it out for myself, not for you. Does that suprise you? Is it a shock to you that I do not care what you believe?
