Also Paul Thompson is irrelevant. He compiles new articles, he doesn't do actual investigations. Steve Coll, Terry McDermont, and Lawrence Wright are award-winning journalists who travel the world and do interviews with relevant people who have first-hand knowledge of Bin Laden. They are relevant. None of them have found a CIA-Al Qaeda alliance, as suggested in your little blurb there. The only CIA-Bin Laden connection they found is in their attempts to kill or capture him.

Oh, the interview was quite good. I hoped for a bit more details but it gave the keynotes on the US-backed activities of Al-Qaeda through the whole nineties in Bosnia, Chechnya and elsewhere. While this story is widely known, it is mostly not told in English. Missed how Bin Laden got his Austrian passport, f.e.

Thompson recommends Peter Dale Scott's "Road to 9/11" for further studies and that might indeed be the best place to go in the english language.

I'm sure he is a good interviewee, it's his interview skills I'm interested in, which he has none that I know of. There is no evidence US sponsoring Al Qaeda, until I see a credible source, I call it fiction.

And why should I take a recommendation of a news article collector? Scott is listed as a poet, does he do the kind of research of Coll, McDermott, or Wright? Does he interview hundreds of pertinent people and scour the public and private archives in places such as Saudi Arabia or other middle eastern countries? Why would Scott or Thompson trump their meticulous research? That's like asking me to replace Adrian Gonzalez with Crash Davis on my fantasy-baseball team.

The average TexasJack is not supposed to know about these things. You won't hear it on the telly. You have to actively look for it, the information is there. If you choose to do so or not is completely irrelevant in regards to the facts.

Well, to be fair, there was an indirect CIA - Bin Laden alliance...in the early 80's having arms and money funnelled to the mujahideen through Pakistan during the Soviet Afghan War. But that's the only connection ever confirmed, the rest is all hearsay, speculation or outright fantasy.

Nope. Listen to the interview and check the names and issues mentioned by Thompson on his timeline, there you'll get the sources. It never stopped.

They are in Libya today.

I'm well aware of the CIA program in the 80's. It's sole purpose was to help defeat the Soviets, their number one enemy for years. This "alliance" is in reference to the early 90's in Bosnia. Thompson probably is using some poorly sourced article he found. But these amateurs will run with it despite the enormous evidence in the 90's that CIA started intense surveillance on Bin Laden in Sudan starting in 1992, where he went into exile. The further into the 90's you get the more intense the targeting became to the point the CIA was attempting to capture or kill him. That's one helluva an alliance they got there. :eye-poppi
 
Yeah, there's a funny instance described in the interview where they contemplated to kill him but didn't do it because as great as the opportunity was, a falcon hunt in a remote area in Afghanistan, his comrades where arab emirate royals who, if blown up, would have created a royal diplomatic mess.

Certainly the closest surveilled network in history.

We did, however, get more drivel about Sibel Edmonds, more demands to read the conspiracy website, and the usual conspiracist statement that the people making YouTube videos are the real experts as opposed to those dummies at newspapers and TV stations. Even though CE once again completely fails to address, or perhaps even recognize, the central journalistic issue in this thread.

That was obvious from the start of this thread. That's what they are contemplating now. Release it with names or without names. Absolutely trivial and not worth commenting on.

Oh I know, hence why I said indirect alliance. There is no doubt in my mind that bin Laden has been a TARGET of the CIA since the early 90's, not an asset.

If a 9-11 coverup could really be narrowed down to two people -- as these filmmakers purport -- it would be the biggest news story since 9-11 itself. That they need more than five seconds to "contemplate" whether or not to include the real names betrays them as incompetent hacks.
