Assaulting Personal Liberty in San Francisco

I'm cool with other people's nudity (as opposed to my own) but I can understand why people would have a problem with seeing nude people in eateries. Still, in the interest of freedom and noncormity, I'm going to take the nudists' side here. As long as they're not dangling anything in my food, of course.
 
Well, to be fair, there are a lot more reasons to enforce some minimal clothing standard than simple prudery. Imagine you have children, a young daughter perhaps? How would you like if every homeless perv on the planet could walk by anytime the wanted, flashing her the high hard one?

What's the relevance of the hypothetical "perv" being homeless?

Barring incontinence, no.

ETA: Well, on further thought I suppose a bad job wiping combined with a child putting hands on things then handling food could potentially be a problem. Thus, putting a towel down could be helpful.

Yes. There are some rather large people in the US, some are nudists I would imagine. Not all have the same dexterity due to physical restrictions so...I'll just leave you with that image.
 
Are restaurant owners allowed to force people to wear clothes if they want to come inside the restaurant?
 
Is there something wrong with the multitude of dedicated nudist colonies, nude beaches, and/or naturist camps and communities in California, that people have to make a point of doing things like this? There are places literally designed to voluntarily cater to this choice of lifestyle.

Its because there are few "fun" causes left. People have to search for something entertaining to do that supports their belief.

Noticed toward the dying days of the punk movement, too many bored activists, too little large scale things to protest against. Makes for absurd complaints.

"No shirt, no shoes , no service." As just about every buisness has this sign, and i don't see police frantically handing out fines by the dozen, safe to assume its true.

And beyond that it can be a certain manner of dress, whether that be black tie to get in, or gang colors getting you kicked out.

Nudists can suck it up, just like the rest of us that like to dress odd. I can't walk into an 80 dollar a plate restaurant wearing a bullet belt and spiked bracelets , they can't walk into any restaurant wearing nothing. We all have our little disappointments in life.

( The first part of that is based on a real incident, and while i support the right to maintain a dress code. From an academic standpoint i would debate their choice, as at the time, in addition to the mentioned articles i was wearing a 250 dollar, bought for 80 dress shirt, and 150, bought for 40 dress pants. )

When you consider how many people are bad at basic things like spitting gum in a trash can, showering regularly, etc. Do you really think we are not going to be plagued by folks not taking proper care to make sure they keep their drippings to themselves?

Not even a slippery slope argument, it is simply the way most people are. If the option to walk around naked happened, i would have about as much chance of sitting anywhere public, as i do of buying sylvia brownes new book and writing a positive review.

And this isn't even scratching the surface of the fact we are talking about america here. Do you really want some 350 pound flesh mountain wearing nothing but a cowboy hat on a 95 degree day, sitting on the leather seat before you at a fast food place?
 
I say this as someone who lives in Germany, uses nude saunas/schwimbads and in the summer incorporates a nude swim at a public fkk(nude) beach into my workouts. I just don't see this as being that much of an imposition. It pretty much seems like something you shouldn't have to tell people they need to do.
 
I'd have trouble articulating exactly why, but I don't consider it appropriate to be nude in public.

Nude in front of others that desire nudity, good.
Nude on private property, good.
Nude on a public street, not good.

I actually don't either. I really have no interest in walking around nude in public. It's all about time and place.

Jeez, just think of the sound of sweaty buns departing from the plastic.

And think of the children.

I ass ume personal odors are also stopped up somewhat by a pair of jeans in the way so you don't suck all the gas that might be expelled...
