Australian Federal Election 2010

It had nothing to do with the election.

I became vocal when Gillard flip flopped. I became vocal when I saw a very bad government we have in situ. I became vocal because of the lies, deception, bullying etc. Disgraceful.

Australia deserves good and decent government, this one does not cut it.
Australia deserves and needs a strong and honest Labor party, Labor does not cut it - the Liberals are a mile in front at the moment which is an extraordinarily poor indictment of Labor.
This country deserves solid leadership - this one fails dismally.
Australia deserves a government that puts Australia first - this one doesn't.

Worst government ever!

The Newspoll results you have been waiting on...

2PP 59:41
Gillard satisfaction rate down six to 23.
Dissatisfied 68.
Abbott now has a 9 point lead as preferred PM.
The coalition's primary vote os 50, the highest in 10 years.

How are the Greens going? Well Labor have dropped 10 points and none have gone to Greens, in fact they have fallen from 14 to 12.

It's hard to see how this could get any worse for Gillard and Labor. But I suspect it will.
More news later.

* Housing - For the Australian on the average wage, owning a home is now an impossible, or crushingly expensive, dream, mostly due to the negative gearing inducing speculators invest in property at a loss so they can claim a tax benefit.

Is this really a big problem around Australia? (I'm not doubting, I'm just curious about how it else elsewhere around Australia right now)

I thought in general WA was probably one of the most expensive states to buy in recent times, and yet in WA it's a better time to buy now than it's been for a while. Prices are eitehr lower or the same as they've been for the past 3 or 4 years, and pay levels keep increasing. The interest rates seem to have been pretty static for the past 2 years, and aren't at dream-crushing levels.

Worst government ever!
It's a remarkable indictment of the Murdoch press raising "Boat People" to be the most important issue the country faces. It's so blindingly and absurdly wrong, it boggles the mind. For years, "Economic Management" was the number one issue, and Howard was patted on the back for his supposed prowess at that skill. Now it's not. The goal posts keep moving, so that Labor has to chase a moving target.

After budget night, Abbot was seen outside the after budget get together for the Liberal Party in Canberra, chatting about how to frame the news for the next day with the Murdoch press. It's not an honest contest.

The Abbot government will be the worst ever, because at one of the crucial junctures of Australian history, it will give into anti-science and ignorance and kill a carbon tax.

What a massive dose of stupid you have been reading. It was Gillard herself who upon ascending to leadership and being voted in PM asked the nation to judge her on what she delivers. It was she at that time that made Border security, the carbon tax and the mining tax the measures from which she would be judged.

Evidence?
But even of true, how does that compare to Gillard bullying managing to have two journalists axed suspended silenced because she doesn't like what they have to say? If Howard had done the same thing the unified screams about censorship would have been ringing loud and clear - and rightly so.

The Abbot government will be the worst ever, because at one of the crucial junctures of Australian history, it will give into anti-science and ignorance and kill a carbon tax.

It is not anti science to reject a tax that does nothing to mitigate climate change.

"Stop the Boats" is all Abbott's work, with a lot of help from the Murdoch media. The Carbon Tax is based on the need to address a serious issue, Abbott is putting his own children's future at risk for the sake of becoming PM, the Mining Tax was praised by Murdoch press as a good idea, till it was put forward as policy, then it became an immenent disaster. The idea that an industry making super profits, and sending most of them overseas would be decimated by a super profit tax is inane. It is by definition a tax on super profits. You can only dig the minerals up once, and the price won't be going down. The profitability is driving the dollar up, and destroying jobs in other parts of the country that involve manufacturing. The mining states have been subsidised for over a century by the rest of Australia, including Victoria. Now that they are doing well, they want to keep the wealth all to themselves. Even now, the Federal grants will still take more from Victoria than it gives back.

It does mitigate climate change. More CO2 creates worse warming, less CO2, less warming.

Nope. It will do nothing to mitigate climate change. Oops, my mistake, it will make a 0.0038C difference over nearly 100 years; virtually nothing. :)

And like I said, it is not a rejection of the science, it is a rejection of a ridiculous tax that will do nothing to mitigate climate change.

To your next post, as I said, you have been reading massive amounts of stupid. Gillard asked us to measure her on these issues, and guess what ....? She has failed in epic proportions and she doesn't like it.

Worst PM of the worst government ever!

Here's the reminder of what she wanted us to judge her on....

http://www.smh.com.au/national/judge-me-on-how-i-do-the-job-not-how-i-got-it-20100702-zu58.html

JULIA GILLARD has appealed to voters to judge her on how she does her job, not how she got there, as she chalked up her first significant policy victory by striking a tax deal with the mining industry.

''The only thing I could say to Australians is to judge me on how I do the job,'' Ms Gillard said. ''What we've achieved with the mining industry is one way of showing that I'm very happy to sit down with people and work through difficult issues.''

The resolution to the two-month conflict that had torn down Mr Rudd and brought the government to its knees refuelled speculation of an election being called as early as tomorrow.

But Ms Gillard said she had more issues to deal with first and nominated asylum seeker and population policy as the next priority, followed by climate change.

So there you have it, straight from the horses mouth, as it were:
Judge me on:
Mining tax
Border protection
Climate change policy.

She is getting exactly what she wanted, to blame the Murdoch press and Abbott is stupid of the highest order - it is another failure and problem of her own making.

Worst PM ever!

If a doctor told you that too much drinking had damaged your liver, would you keep drinking if he also told you that stopping drinking would only stop the progression of the disease, but could not reverse it.

We are one country in the world, but we have to do what is our bit.

It's not that hard to understand, if you need more help trying to understand an idea that is really not that complex, I will be happy to help. Some people do seem to find the idea too difficult to grasp.

The majority of the population believe Gillard has no mandate for this tax - it is part of the reasons Labor (and Gillard before it) will be wiped out. Arrogant, stupid and destructive!

She is being judged on her actions.
Tick tick tick.

And how would you determine whether someone has a mandate or not?

Given that she said she wouldn't introduce it at the time she got the votes, I reckon she probably doesn't have implied support, a mandate or whatever.
