Why can't whites be as racist as Malcolm X

A person of color calling me a cracker doesn't hold the same power as me calling someone the n word.

It's based on the history of the word. "Cracker" wasn't used as often and oppressively. Just like the difference between "coon" and the n-word. Both referring to blacks but one is going to spark more emotion.

Swear words operate the same way as racial slurs. "****" and "crap" mean the same thing but one generates more emotion and shock.

If a black person says "I hate whites" and a white person says "I hate blacks" I'd say they will be equally ostracized by society.

Demonstrating that some black people are racist does not mean that it's okay to be racist.

Instead, it means that black people are no more immune to being stupid/ignorant about race than any other group of people.

It is not racism to tell an oppressor that he is an oppressor and he is wrong.

The whole premise is just kind of stupid. Normal whites might not go around saying proud to be white but they sure go around saying proud to be Irish, proud to be Italian, proud to be German etc. Unlike American whites who know for the most part where their ancestors came from black Americans many times do not have that knowledge because of the way they where brought to this country and treated until the 1860s.

Oh, perhaps you missed it, but they actually made X look like an amateur.

Fortunately, we are learning from our mistakes.

So just to make sure: in this thread, we're complaining because we can't be as openly racist as we would like to be?

The world will always be racist, why can't we as a people face up to this fact?
What in whatever's name requires you to believe the world will always be racist? Or religionist (just in case)? Or heightest?sexist?.........Smart tends to mean losing those bits when they lose their societal value - and that they are doing!!

Racism as we know it is a relatively recent social construct, it's not some primeval biological deep-programmed reptilian brain thing.

Really? Define "recent".

In the long term it gets a bit muddied, as it was a lot more along cultural, ethnic and religious lines than what we would now define as racial. Remember the Irish only became white in the 20th century or so.

So it all depends quite a lot on how you define race and racism. The contemporary concept of race is what is the recent construction, of course it is also rather culturally dependent, as not all cultures have the same racial categories or assign people the same way.

Why is that blacks can say they are "proud to be black" and they can strive for racial autonomy of their communities, but whites can not?

Racism to me involves abuse of power. People of color don't have the power, but there is an ability for them to be prejudice. If white nationalists were not predatory, they would not be racist then.

A person of color calling me a cracker doesn't hold the same power as me calling someone the n word.

People who are similar on those types of lines congregate. Race is a true issue.

You can be just as racist as the worst of 'em, you just have to live with the consequences.
