The Oldest Religious Structures & Ancient Aliens?

Head of the Cairo University Archaeology Department, Dr Ala Shaheen in December 2010 had told an audience that there might be truth to the theory that aliens helped the ancient Egyptians build the oldest of pyramids, the Pyramids of Giza.

On being further questioned by Mr Marek Novak, a delegate from Poland as to whether the pyramid might still contain alien technology or even a UFO with its structure, Dr Shaheen, was vague and replied “I can not confirm or deny this, but there is something inside the pyramid that is “not of this world”.
The report that claims he said it was first reported in all news web.
That story spread like wildfire.
Here is a report against it: http://www.andrewcollins.com/page/articles/shaheen.htm
I also not that if he has said such a thing it would be big news.

I like how one of edge's links claims that the Giza pyramids are the oldest, completely ignoring all the older pyramids that exist.

I like his claim that no one would carve fiction in stone.
Quick, everyone!
Start worshiping the Egyptian gods! :p

Professor Herouni
Yet another respected scientist making claims far afield from his line of expertise.
Paris M. Herouni (born on December 17, 1933 - died December 5, 2008 [1][2]) is an Armenian professor and scientist, member of National Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia in the fields of radio-physics, radio-engineering, and radio-astronomy. He was a head of the “Antenna Systems” chair (founded by him), in the State Engineering University of Yerevan, as well as the Radio physics Research Institute (RRI).....
In more recent times Dr. Herouni has begun to take an interest in megalithic structures, such as Zorats Karer (sometimes referred to as Karahunj) in Armenia, which is thought to be an ancient observatory.

You want to leave out the explanations of the ancients and insert your own more rational ones, but to ignore it all is a mistake, because if they were writing down fiction I doubt they would have carved this in stone.

Why?
Why do you doubt that a culture would exaggerate or even make drawing that were more artistic than realistic?
Why do you doubt that a culture would use symbolism to convey ideas?
Why would a culture not carve fiction into a stone?

.....................

So, Edge. Is there any evidence we can present to you that will even slightly reduce your beliefs about these ancient sites and ancient events? What is your opinion of the evidence we have provided so far?

Giants so far separated from the Middle East, from your link?

I found this also.

There is a man on his knees, what could be a boy or short man (IIRC a common artistic convention of the middle ages was to depict children as small adults), and the tallest man standing on a rise. It looks to me that should the kneeling man stand up and the other man step down, they would be close to the same height. Giants?!

Don't know much about the site. The line about all cultures having a flood myth isn't true. And how you're leaping from older than expected stuff exists to zOMG aliens! is a leap of logic I can't even fathom

The thing about the whole ancient alien thing that gets to me is the seeming premise that so many ancient things, man was too dumb to do by himself. Thats horsepuckey to me. We got where we are somehow.

That and the fact that all interstellar visitors can do is play with blocks.

This. And they don't even do THAT well. The Romans built aquaducts that still work--where are the Egyptian equivalents? The Romans had concrete. Where is concrete in Egypt? Even the Mayans (or was it the Inca?) had something similar. The Egyptians built with LIMESTONE--you can make a type of mortar by cooking limestone (it's how the Maya or Inca, whichever, did it). And why did the aliens mess up the calculations (the Bent Pyramid)?! If you have an interstellar drive, how hard is it to smelt iron and make steel? Or aluminum (electrolysis is a great way to make it)?

The idea that ancient aliens built the pyramids is built on hatred of ancient humans and the belief that aliens are complete morons who somehow created interstellar travel.
