Due to the South Point being totally geeked/nerded out for the 13th - 17th... we're out at the Rio. If anyone else is there, would be happy to share cab fares to/from TAM.

Just a reminder that today, June 30th, is the last day before late registration rates go into effect...

@jref tweets that they are expecting slightly over 1500 attendees, an increase of over 30% vs. last year.

You're right. It's a bit weird. I wonder if the qualifier "paid registrations" makes the difference, though there couldn't have been that many attending for free last year, could there? :confused:

Maybe it's 30% up on how many had paid at this stage last year? I think there were still people turning up and paying on the day last year, and there's another two weeks to go yet.
 
Hi everyone, I'll clarify on the numbers for you.

Last year we had 1088 paid registrants and a little under 1350 total in attendance, including speakers, staff, "comps," etc. We have dramatically reduced the number of "comps" this year. The last I looked at the numbers, we had 1412 paid registrants, and and roughly 100 speakers, press, staff and other comps (these numbers may be slightly higher at this point, but I haven't seen the latest report).

A bit more data for you: we have almost 200 students registered at the discounted student rate, which will make this TAM the largest gathering of skeptical students ever (very excited about this) and the JREF has awarded a total of about 70 grants for folks to attend TAM who otherwise couldn't afford to come, thanks to the generosity of the JREF Forum, and also to folks like Amy Davis Roth who through fundraising and her own generosity is bringing 15 women to TAM on grants.
