Merged Code Pink at the Jefferson Memorial / arrested

Although I recognize this is a flawed reaction, there is something inside me that cheers when Medeawhore Benjamin and Adamnfoolidjit Kokesh get arrested. I especially enjoyed the bit with him being body-slammed to the ground.

Me, I try not to wish violence on anyone except in cases it is absolutely required to stop greater violence.

It may be in the case of a revolutionary like Kokesh. I like the sight of the tough guy being made to look like an ineffectual wussie by one cop.

Really? I saw him being annoying. I did not see him hurting anyone. Do you have access to other information, or are you a sadist?

He organized the event, he pointedly defied the police, he resisted arrest. He's lucky the cop was in a relatively good mood. Anarchist scuzz buckets like Kokesh are either "legals" or "useful idiots" for the white nationalists. He is also a monumental moron. When a cop grabs you and tells you to get on your knees, you had really best execute the maneuver. The punk left the cop no other option.

Kokesh appears to me to mean harm to society, so I would just as soon he suffer a bit for it. And I hope that his lawyer insists on an up-front retainer when the piece of crap sues over "police brutality," and that the DoJ asks for sanctions for the frivolous lawsuit.

Wonder how all you "What's the big deal?" folks would react to such an event at the "Tomb of the Unknowns"...

That would depend entirely, to me, on what was being protested.

As far as I can tell, soldiers often die to defend their country, and the rights that country establishes for its citizens. So it might be an appropriate demonstration, again, depending on the subject.

So we've pretty much established that dancing on memorials in the US is forbidden, unless you have a permit. But what about boogie-ing on down on ordinary graves? Is that okay, or just tacky?

Try it across the Potomac in Arlington and see what happens.
The Major Memorials are regarded in NPS regs as the same as the National Cemeteries..a sort of sacred ground where a degree of decorum is enforced.
And if you break into Arlington after dark you are really up the creek. Special legislation governs Arlington;at night it reverts to it's original status as a US Army Post, the US Army assumes reponsilblity and the penalaties get steeper......

There has to be a better way to deal with all this than to have the federal government act like Master Shake and say "dancing is forbidden!"

Uh, the Feds own the land the Memorial is on. National Park Service to be exact.

There are certain "rules" of decorum a society can and should enforce to ensure a level of civility.
Try dancing in a courtroom, talking on your cell phone at the opera, showing up for work in a itsy-bitsy-tiny-winy-polka-dot-bikini, and see the result.

I don't know about the big deal folks, but the Tomb Guards would not be amused.......

In this case, Kokesh and his gang of whackadoodles were protesting the removal of some of their anarchistic friends from the Memorial after they had done a flash mob and danced like a bunch of lunatics and disturbed other vistors.

So, to proterst that, they take over the Monument during peak tourist hours and resist arrest and rant like a bunch of lunatics and resist arrest.

Freaking brilliant.

Don't believe I expressed approval for this particular event. I made it quite plain I was speaking in general terms.

My main reason is the slight "appeal to emotion" or "patriotism." It's not really any worse to hold a protest at the Tomb of the Unknowns, depending on the reason for the protest, than it is anywhere else.

This one, from what I can tell, seems pretty silly.

Something tells me you don't like this guy.
As a retired slodier, I tend not to like drooling morons who organize anti-war demonstrations and participate in uniform, even if the sad sack of compost is on terminal leave.

I bloody well expect him to change into civilian clothes like I did back in 1969.

I'm glad he got out of the Marine Corps at less than his highest grade, but it should have been lower.

So... no possible worth as a human being then. Subhuman? Animal? Dirt?

I very rarely encounter such bitter hatred towards another human being. It makes me wonder what he did to earn it.

How about getting busted for a violation of the UCMJ and then going out into the world expecting to be more highly respected than the average anarchist drongo just because he s a veteran? How about the fact that he may actually be supporting the white nationalist movement, whether as a "legal" or as a useful idiot?

I have no use for him.
