DOC, did the author of Matthew 16:28 tell the truth?
And if what you said is true, those liars were good to get Thomas Jefferson to spend his time cutting and pasting their work and putting many of their verses in a 60+ page book with each verse translated into 4 different languages. He didn't even do that for Plato, Aritstotle, and Socrates.
The obvious answer is that he fond nothing offensive in the works of Plato, Aritstotle, and Socrates that he needed to purge.
You're using the word "scholar" very loosely here. Most of your scholars start from the premise that the NT is true and then reason toward their (predetermined) conclusion. They apply more mental gymnastics in the process than O.J. Simpson's lawyers.Other scholars have different opinions as I have mentioned and showed several times
60 page. That is not much. Why did he reject 90%+ ? We know it is not because it is too rigid, We have seen you bend the words and meaning beyond recognition.It might appear an obvious answer, but it is quite untrue
From the Corps of Discovery website:
{Jefferson} enjoyed reading ancient history, but hated Plato and Aristotle; in fact, Jefferson disliked all philosophical systems because of their rigidity.

So Jefferson hates Plato and Aristotle but spends a lot of time cutting, pasting and traslating enough verses of the NT to fill a 60+ page book.
Translation: Jefferson thought many of the verses of the NT were superior to the works of Plato and Aristotle. So those NT liars (as some skeptics claim they were) were really good at writing deep spiritual truths. (In Jefferson's opinion, anyway.)
Nice link by the way gives a lot more detail about Jefferson's religious beliefs than you have quoted.It might appear an obvious answer, but it is quite untrue

In fact, Jefferson created his own Bible from the Gospels, cutting and pasting the story of Jesus' life together, emphasizing Jesus' philosophy and eliminating the miracles. (This Bible was only discovered after Jefferson's death, and was unknown during his lifetime). Jefferson's religious views were very important to us politically in the United States; Jefferson reacted strongly against the laws of Virginia Colony which allowed only Anglicans to hold public office. These laws prompted Jefferson to write the Statute of Religious Freedom for Virginia, ideas later incorporated into the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. Jefferson's statute, written after the Revolutionary War as the Virginia State Constitution was being drafted, led to the religious freedoms we enjoy in America and the separation of church and state. This is one of the three things Jefferson wished to be remembered for, which are carved (at his request) on his gravestone.
Yes, because some did not taste death until they saw the new kingdom begin with Christ's death and his coming to them to them after his resurrection. Once the perfect sacrifice (the sinless innoncent "God in the flesh" Christ) died all sin had been paid for. Not only were past sins paid for but the future sins of humanity could also be washed clean by people pleading this perfect sacrifice or as some say "pleading the blood." and also by asking for forgivenessDOC, did the author of Matthew 16:28 tell the truth?
Was Jesus perfect?The only way that bond with a perfect holy God could be repaired was by a sacrifice by a perfect holy person.
Which modern scholars?Other scholars have different opinions as I have mentioned and showed several times

When humanity first sinned, the complete bond or connection with the perfect holy God was broken. The only way that bond with a perfect holy God could be repaired was by a sacrifice by a perfect holy person. A price has to be paid for all sin or otherwise it would seem sin is not a big deal to God. But unforgiven sin is an offense to perfect holy God.

<polytheistic drivel>
Doc, you have forgotten yourself yet again. This is the evidence thread. In case you have forgotten you have failed to provide any evidence that the various resurrection accounts in the bible are true.
Have I mentioned that Elvis Presley's tomb is also empty?
Jesus may have been King of the Jews, but Elvis is the King of Rock and Roll.
