Continuation Part 2 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

the diagram doesn't include the defendants own idiotic responses to police questions. Or that knox was stupid enough to write down an untrue version of events

Shhhhhhhhh...we try not to mention that too much. Mums’ the word...

Bet she doesn’t keep any more jailhouse diaries.

Everyone's an art critic. Ms. Knox was smart enough to convey that what she saw was more of a vision and to note her confusion about what was and was not real. This should have been enough to suggest its unreliability.

And Im fairly certain that Im not at all positive about any of this.

Christianahannah,

Amanda was at the cottage---in the presence of police--- on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. She discusses her November 3rd visit to the cottage in her email written the next day. She discusses her November 4th visit to the cottage in her trial testimony. The famous photograph of her surrounded by cops (posted upstream) was taken by a news service photographer on November 3rd.

Has Mignini has confused Amanda with someone else..............

///

It would be helpful to know the times Amanda was there, the times Mignini was there and to see where they crossed. Amanda spent a good amount of time being questioned at the Questura among other activities during the days following Meredith's death.

I think Mignini knows who Amanda is. Perhaps the translated effort is off a bit. (And yes, I understand what you were conveying with the photo.)

Do you have the impression that Knox and Sollecito were both sitting around twiddling their thumbs when they decided to introduce these garbled "confessions/accusations"?

Do you not believe that they had given an unchanged account of their whereabouts on the evening/night of the 1st/2nd (that they were both at Sollecito's apartment from around 6.30pm until around 10am the following morning) during their multiple hours of questioning by the police between November 2nd and 5th?

Do you not believe that the police might have told Sollecito that they now had solid evidence implicating Knox in the murder, and that he might have believed them? Do you not think that this is what might have made him agree with the police that Knox might have been able to leave his apartment without his knowledge while he was sleeping?

Do you not believe that Knox might then have been confronted by the police with the news that Sollecito had stopped supporting her alibi (only very partially and semantically true, but Knox wasn't to know that), and that the police had firm evidence of her presence at the murder scene? Do you not believe that the police might have told Knox that they "knew" she had met up with Lumumba that evening (viz the misinterpreted text message), and that they'd gone together to the cottage? Do you not believe that the police might have managed to convince Knox that she was experiencing a memory block about the events of that night, owing to the traumatic and horrific nature of the crime? Do you not believe that the police might have convinced Knox to "remember" that Lumumba had committed the murder, while she played no active role in it? Do you not believe that the police might not have suggested (either overtly or subliminally) to Knox that if she "remembered" this version of events, she'd be essentially off the hook - since she was implicating Lumumba in the murder but not herself? Do you not believe that the police might have suggested to Knox that a "rememberance" would enable the police to protect her against Lumumba, whom the police had convinced her was a dangerous sexual murderer?

And you believe that none of the above could EVER happen to you, especially if you were young and naive, in a foreign country, with no family and no proper friends around?

I never understood the parents being so dumb. Especially RS dad. I know what advice I would have given my son under the circumstances. As for the two innocents...I know boneheads just like em...so damn book smart...and not enough common sense to understand how to fold a road map....the pot head factor is x 3.

Do they still have those? Road maps.

Ms. Knox was reasonable clear both before and after the interrogations of 5-6 November. Your unwillingness to consider the possibility that Ms. Knox made a coerced false statement is noted. The choice of the word "visions" is my own, and it was based upon some of the passages I highlighted below, which come from Ms. Knox's statement of 6 November.

"However, it was under this pressure and after many hours of confusion that my mind came up with these answers. In my mind I saw Patrik in flashes of blurred images. I saw him near the basketball court. I saw him at my front door. I saw myself cowering in the kitchen with my hands over my ears because in my head I could hear Meredith screaming. But I've said this many times so as to make myself clear: these things seem unreal to me, like a dream, and I am unsure if they are real things that happened or are just dreams my head has made to try to answer the questions in my head and the questions I am being asked."

Plus even her best friend calls her odd but in a way that makes you love her, not in a murderin 4 way sex ology ritual oddness.

It seems the recent interview with the Migweenie brought new information to this question?

So, are the tapes, or not? I've never seen a definitive answer.

If there ARE tapes, they will essentially confirm Knox's account, and put the lie to the police's, I'd be willing to bet.

If you listen to machavelli there are tapes but they can never be used in court in this case. And in any case he says they are not transcribed and cant be because ...I lost him way before this point so

There probably are no tapes...not anymore anyway.

This photo shows a bit more of the handle - the jutted out part on the bottom looks substantial enough to keep a hand or fingers from sliding onto the blade.

http://perugiamurderfile.org/gallery/image_page.php?album_id=21&image_id=222

Well that moulded hilt is only around 1cm in height - I'd have thought that a forceful stab that hit solid internal material might very possibly still result in the had sliding down over the hilt and onto the blade. But I agree, this photo shows more of a hilt than those which I provided.

In any case, it's moot. Knox had no hand injuries (or signs of recent injuries) when she was arrested. So Knox could equally have used the knife in the murder without her hand sliding onto the blade, or she could not have used the knife in the murder at all.

Indeed. So when RG said MK called AK a "drugged up tart" we're supposed to believe he's lying, but if he says that AK and RS were not involved with the murder, we're supposed to believe he's telling the truth.

You know I think we can turn this guy...

Yes, I have to also wonder if the desperate Defense Team used the old fishing techniques to obtain jailbirds willing to say nice things about Amanda and bad things about Rudy in Court.

Toss a sign down murders row aisle stating the below, and slowly 'reel it in':

Anyone wanting
1) a free day out of here
2) a new suit for a day
3) fresh haircut, shave, and grooming by experts
4) lots of media fawning
5) willing and able to say/remember to say what we say to say, good about Amanda and bad about Rudy

Just raise your hand (between bars of course)

Never gonna change this guys mind...no way!!!

The day after the murder? It gets worse. That famous photograph of Amanda outside the cottage, surrounded by cops, and later found hanging on the wall of the Forensic Police headquarters in Rome? The photograph was taken on Saturday, November 3rd!

Indeed he did!

It looks like they may have to prove premeditation. As you'll recall they were unable to do so in the last trial, which otherwise went so well for the prosecution. The motive they tried with hashish and comic books didn't go down so well with the Supreme Court, thus I'd guess that one would be out. I'm just guessing they won't go with a satanic ritual-orgy. :p

I don't think the 'rape prank' is going to cut it either, would one set up such a convoluted alibi for something that was supposed to be for fun? I doubt that would work with the Supreme Court either.

So...what kind of motive could be proven? They have to account for the fact that Raffaele's must have set up his computer to give an alibi, or that they put in a video to do the same and got back before it ended. I suppose the only other thing that might work is if they 'spontaneously' decided to go kill Meredith during their movie. That would be "Stardust," right? I've not seen it, but it looks like it's pretty lovey-dovy schmaltz to me, is this sort of thing that inspires murder?

See...there I went earlier calling them bone heads without common sense and then there comes the nerd to save their lives. But I think we knew all this already and we (but maybe the defense was refused) knew that the program the police use to copy the hard drive is not sufficient to get a grasp on all the files used by the Mac Book Pro. And so what is the status of that?

It was some church guy site who is the expert about this...but he seems to have disappeared. I would expect these undiscovered files are the goodies. Little keyboard light shut down logs...whod a thunk it?

BTW...Ill stop now...I cant catch up... again. And I suppose everyones pi$$ed by now.

It seems like a pretty plain statement of facts and is an explanation I remember discussing during the Fiona era.

If you aren't able to demonstrate that anything he says there is false, what was it about what Mignini says that you wanted to highlight?

Here is a repeat of a post from a particularly good poster on another forum...

from Translators of the CNN...interesting, so now we get an update on the "excuse for not recording the interrogation"....per Mignini.

12’51’’ CNN: Why wasn’t there any video or transcript of those hours?

13’00’’ Mignini: Look, that’s, I was at the police station, and all the…let’s say…when I made investigations in my own office, I taped them. I taped them, we have an apparatus for that, and I transcribed them. For example, there’s the interrogation of the English girls, Meredith’s friends, it was all taped. The interrogations of Amanda in prison were taped, and then transcribed, and we have the transcripts of… But in a police station, at the very moment of the investigation it isn’t done, not with respect to Amanda or anyone else. Also because, I can tell you, today, even then, but today in particular, we have budget problems, budget problems that are not insignificant, which do not allow us to transcribe. Video is very important…I completely agree with you that videotaping is extremely important, we should be able to have a video recording of every statement [verbale di assunzione di informazioni] made Because what is said is very important, but it’s maybe even more important how it is said, the non-verbal language. Because from the non-verbal language you can [missing words].

15’14’’ Mignini: It isn’t only Amanda, it’s always like that. But I wanted to say that I agree with him that it’s fundamental, only there’s a problem, especially when the witnesses are so numerous, and in fact just recording, I mean recording the sound, isn’t enough according to me.
15’38’’ CNN: It doesn’t cost much, he says.

15’40’’ Mignini: Well we have significant budget problems, that’s what it is.

I think that might be a fib .

beyond ridiculous ? - No there is still hope

Shuttlt,

Elsewhere you wrote, “That we (in the wider sense of the various posters on the various boards) can still argue about how long, and when, she was interrogated, and whether all the DNA evidence has been released is beyond ridiculous.”

I see that The Machine brought up Luciano Garofano in his/her list of experts in response to you. Colonel Garofano has no standing in this case, whatsoever. Moreover, by his own words, it is obvious that he either does not know what he is talking about with respect to DNA, or he does, but wants to make the DNA forensics look better than they are. You can search on my username and “Garofano” as a search term to find my reasons.

We will have to agree to disagree about the importance of what Carlo Dalla Vedova recently said with respect to asking for the data since 2009. I think it is an unquivocal statement of something for which we have had plenty of indirect evidence. It is “beyond ridiculous” that the data were not even turned over to the defense; it is not “beyond ridiculous” to remind people that this fact alone made the trial of the first instance unfair. If the defense’s expert witnesses had been given the information that the two independent experts are now getting, they might have been able to convince the jury of the weakness of the DNA forensics, leading to an acquittal in the trial of the first instance.

:):)

Finally ! - despite the naysayers (I'm looking at you shuttlt) claiming that nothing could ever be agreed on this interminable thread - We have a breakthrough

Months ago I explained this at length to you halides1, even resorting to using extracts from the dreaded Massei report [that everyone has read ;) ] and you seemed very resistant to the idea.

See Link , Link Link and a bunch of other posts in those pages.

Do I get a (stale 6 month old) cookie :)

Can I hope against hope that in another 6 months you will accept the point about the DNA data or will the rescheduled rapture come first.
