I was willing to let it go.

So for me this is Hell, to come in here and just try to give you an insight into our reasons.
What you don’t seem to get or you are being blinded is, that our faith absolutely works for us.
My job came today from faith… and in today’s world to me and other it’s amazing.
If you seriously want to know what I know then participate and learn.
I learn things from you guys, I am not ashamed to admit that, I come in here not because I hate you but the opposite.
I would say that at least half of my friends are like you and I really like them.
I would hate not to see them on the other side.
Show me the light in your eyes and I’ll show you God.
If Jesus gave us grace and took our sins past, present and future then what that means is he is feeling all of our suffering and it will not be forgotten.
If he is in our hearts then he is well aware of our suffering and strife.
All of this is proved over and over again to true believers.

I've got to ask, then: Why are you here? Initially I thought that maybe you were here to convert non-believers. But given the quality of your arguments, I can't consider that possible. Then I figured, maybe you're here simply to debate theology and mythology. But again, the quality of your arguments in this area makes that very unlikely. I'll be honest with you. I literally have no idea what your purpose is, here.
I don't think anyone seriously doubts your faith works for you. I think the major sticking point is regarding your theology being mythology.
How did you determine it was faith and not luck or stubbornness or opportunity or anything else?

The likelihood of your god existing does not factor in the fervency of your belief. You cannot make something spring into being by wishing for it hard enough. That being said, I see your desire to please your god. So I'm a little befuddled as to why you spend no effort whatsoever into determining whether or not you got the right one picked out. Thought experiment, yes? If I *knew* beyond any shadow of a doubt that an actual god existed, what sense would it make if I just picked a random religion and hoped it was the right one? That god would become the most important thing in your life, yes? Wouldn't that god be slightly miffed if no effort was made into determining which religion was the right one, instead of assuming it?

If you're speaking about James Randi, then yes he is a magician, and the magical term he thinks in is "illusion." He knows it's not real, but wants to convince people that it is, if only for a moment. Same with the people who wrote the bible, except they never tell you it's all an illusion. They* know it's all nonsense, and get a kick out of people believing it.
*Of course the original writers are long since dead, but the tradition has carried on, with the purveyors of religion almost always perfectly aware (IMO) that they're spewing out garbage, and flabbergasted how much money they can make and how easily they can control people by convincing them that what they say is true.

I know James Randi very well. I think of him as a friend and I hope he feels the same way.
As least Randi tells people that his job as a magician is to fool you, but he doesn't make out that it is anything else but a trick. Religious leaders on the other hand trick people all the time and want them to believe it is the real thing, they have no shame.
