StopSylvia email: "Hummmmmm"

I would imagine that without her weekly pushing her latest book on the Montel Williams Show, her last few books haven't sold as well as her previous ones did. Perhaps when she dies, there will be a resurgeance (sp?) of interest in her, similar to that which happens with some musicians and artists, but I don't see that lasting very long.

I keep forgetting! I really need to put together a list of those who say they know better than me what my thoughts and motivations are, and put them on Speed Dial.

The discussion never went farther? I think it is an idea worth pursuing.

The discussion is from today - it's not an idea I had before, it really started out here when I made the joke of giving you your own sub-forum, and since you seemed to like the thought - or at least my subsequent and more serious thought, I went and posted it there.

Oh, I didn't notice it was current. in fact, I held off posting in it so as not to resurrect an ancient thread! I may do so now.

Mushy had me laughing when he claimed what he was doing was based on "morality." He demonstrates no comprehension regarding "skepticism," so I guess it would follow with "morals."

It's "resurgence".

'Toad! Haven't seen you in a while! How's things? You coming through Oregon any time soon?

Might be later this week. The rig needs a short service, and some parts replaced. (Typical Freightshaker. It's falling apart.) Truth to tell, I was there a few weeks ago, but only passing through. At least Peggy will be with me this trip.

Yes, I agree - if you're planning on revamping the whole site, it makes sense to incorporate the search engine as part of that and keep the output uniform. I was thinking along the lines of your stop-gap method with an embedded Google search box with the option to search on the site only. But now that I looked into that, I see that it is not a free option. I also saw that Rasmus suggested the custom Google search, which seems even more appropriate if you were to go that route.

i DON'T KNOW ABOUT "REVAMPING THE WHOLE SITE", BUT i HOPE, ONCE i AM BACK TO UPDATING IT...Gaaah! Sorry for the caps... I hope to add a search feature, rework the Articles page (different sorts, putting articles into categories (Emails, Contradictions, Readings, Novus, Montel, etc.), adding an RSS feed, considering a "Mushy-friendly" color scheme... who knows?

I am often taken aback by how quickly Google search results are updated - usually when searching for something someone posted in these forums that day, only to get that very post as the first (and sometimes, only) hit! That said, I doubt there's any control over how often your site is crawled; it is most likely a function of how often the site is updated.

Now that was just...Krul! - saying that to a man whose site has been updated twice in the past few years! :(

I suppose I should add something here to actually be on topic of the sites' content: Simply awesome. :)

Thanks! I guess you had to be Krul to be Kind! :D

I just created This Poll on the subject.

If you're near Salem, look us up! (I'll PM you contact details)

Sorry, I somehow missed part of this post earlier, so will reply to it now.

And you should be able to have all your CSS in one common, external file that is linked into each HTML page, too. That's rather the point of CSS, or one of them, anyway.

Code:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="class.css" />

That way, the css from class.css file will be used for that page and any other linking to it like that.

Yes, I believe this is one of the "other ways" I tried, which I alluded to in my post mentioning my server-side include method. Why it did not work, and the symptoms of it not working, I don't know and can't recall, respectively.

It may be that it worked when used on the site, but not in my local development environment, or vice-versa. Again, I don't recall. I know that I had that sort of problem with other CSS issues (something would format perfectly in my development environment but, once I uploaded it to the site, all hell would break loose). And no, I don't recall what the development environment was.

Strange. it should work.

I guess there's not much point in guessing what the errors may have been and what could have caused them, but I'll do it anyway: File paths and mime types, perhaps.

Anyway, just shout out if you need another pair of eyes to look over your code in the future.

I remember fussing over the path, so I don't think that was it. "mime times"? I believe mine was the type with the official black-and-white striped shirt...
