The downside of dependence

We are in control of the whole thing and will probably never lose it save for an unexpected natural disaster. My many descendants will walk the Earth proudly in stewardship. Too bad you don't get to share in this glory seeing as you're weeding yourself out of existence as part of a new age religion.

Ok.

I did some threads back. I didn't feel the need to repeat the motions.

If only one of us is presenting information on nuclear technology in the thread, then people reading this thread will only see one point of view on whether nuclear energy can avert your hoped for energy crisis/apocalypse. And it won't be yours.

Nice try :)

Good one.

All your threads can be boiled down to: "humans bad......hell in a hand basket......technology bad.......follow the Druid or else......doom"

You make no honest attempt to respond to the many posts which have refuted the ignorant points you have made, whether it is about energy, world population, the practicalities of your (and the Archdruid's) "solutions" etc.

And the best you can do is "nice try".

Trolling 101.

Actually I've made plenty of honest attempts to respond to people's criticisms (which rarely have to do with what Greer is actually saying), I just haven't responded to the people on my ignore list. As for Sword of Allah or whatever, I've responded in the past in which he hand waved me away, and I didn't feel like making this thread into a "nuclear" thread/debate.

Hey, TFian, did you see my post I made on Greer? You might be interested in it.

Ooo Ooo! I am interested in it! That is a great post. I couldn't have said it better myself.

All in all, he seems to not only fully embrace unproven "New Age" ideas, but has tried numerous times to make a business out of them, in some form or fashion, particularly with his books. It seems when those did not do very well for him, he moved onto the "Peak Oil" scene, and has done modestly well in it.

That's it in a nutshell! Hey maybe the Grandmaster of Tarot drew the death card when he read the Cards for the future of the earth. Perhaps this is why he doesn't source anything he writes about and misunderstands his opponents. He knows the future and he knows what they are really thinking.

Great piece by John Michael Greer

Synopsis :

The American middle class is never going to come back and most people will be shut out of it forever. We need to get used to using much much less, and the future of America is that of a third world country on par with Brazil's 1970s era. 1970s appropriate style technology is the answer (to some of our problems).

Compelling piece really. Pick apart at your will.

OK, I will.
