Right things don't always play out where the hero has time to quickly take out the gun hand, then disarm and tie the suspect while the other cats in the room shooting don't hit anything but the walls around them.

A situation like that is chaotic and tough to anticipate how it will go down. The only way they could have avoided a fire fight was to maybe have the body guards in the house in on the operation and catch the Bin Laden's in the shower or smoething.

And in counter-terrorist actions, people tend to shoot the bad guy if he's a threat. Even your basic US beat cop is willing to fire upon someone with a deadly weapon if they pose a threat to the police or public. Which country are you from?

you also forgot the inherent right to self defense. When it comes to military operations, "use of deadly force" is a phrase that comes up frequently. I suggest you brush up on your SOP.
