Why civilization itself is unsustainable

I should add that I'm the proud father of 7 children who will make a positive impact on civilization.

I dunno, it doesn't seem to fit any traditional "hate speech" criteria,

How does calling people a piece of crap not fit "traditional hate speech"?

it just seems run of the mill misanthropism

Misanthropy is defined as "generalized dislike, distrust, disgust, contempt or hatred of the human species or human nature."

In other words, the kind of person who engages in hate speech.

Most neo-pagan faiths I am aware of lack a concept similar to the hell of christianity.

This is true. Since the feller in question is a type of druid, there's really no way to know his beliefs since no one really knows what the ancients believed and there are many different schools of thought today. He could believe in an afterlife of sorts where misanthropism could be rewarded or his "selfishness" punished. Certainly not in the traditional Christian sense.

I just don't get it. This is a natural world, we create goodness in spite of nature, yet people somehow end up worshiping nature? Stockholm syndrome maybe.

None conceived during the football season.

No, that's a lie. Awaiting a brace of grandkids to ravish the planet.;)

So do you think it's okay to destroy all other life on the planet to make room for more and more and more people? (because that's the drift I'm getting here from the way you seem to be brandishing this about. I could be wrong, though. Or do you think there's a way to add more without destroying more of the planet's life? How would you do that -- since every place expansion goes, the environment in that area gets destroyed.) Civilization itself need not be unsustainable, but certain things we do with it, on the other hand...

Evasion noted. For someone who lectures others how to live their lives, to have such little insight is telling.

So what, are you suggesting he should go and commit suicide? What was the point you were trying to make? And the idea of "have no kids at all" is too extreme ('VHEMT' is silly -- it's saying we can't change how we do anything, so we are of no worth and should just die (so much for respect for life, we're life too!) and not even bother trying to change.) -- the problem is if everyone thinks they can have as many kids as they want with absolutely no regard for the planet and its limits.

Edit: Oh wait, I just saw his support for "VHEMT"... so I guess that's what you're talking about... Am I right?

Misanthropy isn't often (or ever) covered under any nation's "hate speech" clauses. For example "Jews are all parasites"= hate speech, "all humans are parasites" as far as I know, doesn't. I should also point the nation I live in doesn't even have any hate speech laws (USA), and I believe TFian lives here too (I could be wrong though).

Misanthropy is defined as "generalized dislike, distrust, disgust, contempt or hatred of the human species or human nature."

In other words, the kind of person who engages in hate speech.

That would be a new inclusion then as far as I know.

As I have said so many times it's becoming boring, the biggest population problem the world is facing is the looming reduction we are facing in a few decades.

Please define "traditional hatespeech criteria" :) There is a legal definition and a non-legal definition. It's hatespeech, but not legally.

Well, where I live, there *is* no "legal" definition of hate speech, as it is protected speech here.

There's a moderate, acceptable form of misanthropism?

Maybe? I don't know, as I'm not a misanthrope myself. But I believe another user here that isn't an luddite or primitivist said he was one too in this thread.

It's not cool to hate humanity. It's not acceptable to boast about it. Anyone disagree?

Not cool sure, but I have no problem with him "boasting" about it really. Whatever floats his boat.

Where do you live? I highly doubt this.

What kind of person hates humanity? How could there be a single positive redeeming quality of such a belief? What does it serve? It's completely unjustified. It's technically pseudoscience, every time you pin them down, their beliefs about humanity are completely fallacious. A rational argument for misanthropy? Impossible! Through down the gauntlet here boys gives us your cult philosophy.

Speak for yourself. People go through dark periods in their life and start getting attracted to this kind of movement. I'd rather they be publicly chastised everywhere they go, taunted with demands for evidence for their beliefs, just so the the allure of their dark arts is shown to be what it really is, immature escapism and sometimes deep psychopathy.

Oil peaked in the continental USA long before 2005...

Your source claimed far more than that. And it's already been proven wrong. You're simply compounding the failures of your source in accuracy with your own failures in honesty.
