The highlighted part I recall from a sermon that I attended years ago on homosexuality. The pastor claimed that it is not homosexuals that will not be allowed into the kingdom of heaven, but homosexual behavior that will not be allowed. So that must mean that they will magically turn straight once they make it to heaven.
If you believe the words of Jesus Christ as reported by the gospels then people in heaven "will be as angels" and will therefore be asexual ("will not marry"), so the question of hetro- or homosexuality in heaven is moot.
There is so much stuff disallowed in the Bible that ordinary Christians do every day without hesitation. Premarital sex, for instance.
Yes I am aware of this. And Christians acknowledge it as a sin when they do it. But premarital sex is not who they are or a type of sexual orientation. Being homosexual is, according to some, something you are born with. So that is just who that person is. So basically by being homosexual and being Christian, you are saying that who you are as a person is wrong. The way fod created you is wrong. Did the distinction make sense at all??Quad?
What other options are you referring to?
More consistent with that interpretation that homosexual behaviour isn't allowed in heaven (instead of while they are alive) is that there would be a lot of frustrated homosexuals there instead of them being straight, as there's nothing in the set-up about conversion therapies. Although if human attempts at that and god's attempts at that after prayer are anything to go by, there'd still be a lot of frustrated homosexuals in heaven.I doubt that is the conclusion the pastor wanted you to come to. What makes you think there will sex of any kind given the mainstream Christian doctrines on heaven?
That's because there are not very many atheists.
ya, well when my old lady gets in with her lady friends, its bitch this and hoe that and they grab each others bits all the time. She terns into a real lush. The closer her friend the the worse the language gets and...... what? oh, yes?, ok hold it. I have just been reliably informed that its us straight doods that refer to women like that, not feminine women at all. Wow, some better tell my ol'lady.

Islam, Hindu, Jainism, Buddhism, Animism, etc.
It's not just a choice between christian or atheist.
Yes I somewhat acknowledged this in the opening post. I am going to talk about Christianity specifically though because I am not familiar enough with the other religions to speak intelligently about their specific writings.

Seems to me it would be kind of counter productive to be Christian and be a homosexual, seeing as how the Bible calls for their death. Some religions are more accepting, such as Episcopalians. Do you guys think that most homosexuals are atheists? I don't think I have met a gay who was Christian. Then again, I have not met very many gays.
Your sexuality (gay or straight) is part of who you are, and your desire to act on your arousal before marriage is also part of who you are.
And how do you know Christians acknowledge it as a sin?
I think that people will interpret scripture to serve their own needs at any opportunity
