Continuation Part 2 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

Not open for further replies.
An avatar depicting Meredith Kercher with knife in her throat? That was sick and I can't believe forum admins allowed it.

I realise this will come as a complete and utter surprise to you, because everything else he's ever said has been completely accurate and spin-free, but his statements on this topic are misleading. ;)

The avatar in question was a scaled-down image of the album cover of the 2009 album "Death Threat" by My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, and I adopted it mostly for the then-ongoing forum mafia game I was participating in which had a theme about a secret cult murdering people.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you can see the image that got them so exited.

I won't deny that the fact that the avatar would almost certainly be misconstrued by guilters who thought it was all about them also gave me a giggle, but I went to a different avatar after the game was over.

What gives PMFs the bad name in my eyes are the attacks on distressed and suffering family members. When I looked there recently they had both Raffaele's and Amanda's sisters in the crosshairs. With Amanda's sister being described as prostitute. This is inexcusable and responsible administrators should remove and prevent any such things.

It would be nice if one of the PMFs had such a thing one day.

I see it's back to the bickering, well time to try and put things back on track.

Thanks for the floor plan, that was very helpful.

I have been looking for a timeline, but the older ones I have found are clearly incorrect with things in them that are now known to be incorrect. Does anyone know of a more recent version of a timeline for Guilt and one for Innocence based on the data that is known to be true?

Thanks.

Just a quick break from reports on the Perugian police's usual pranks

There's a better floorplan of the footprints at the Injustice in Perugia website. Select Footprints from the menu panel on the left hand side.

I don't have enough posts here to insert hyperlinks.

.

The only misleading spin filled statement was from your compatriot Katody.

I never said it was Meredith Kercher.
Katody 'erroneously' said that I said that.
You then typically and dutifully repeat the blatant error to suit your argument

This is verbatim what I said:
Yes, and lest an impartial observer get the impression that only the 'hate sites' you attempt to demean are the only 'bad guys', please consider:

If one goes not far indeed below the 'tip' of your iceberg analogy you must also includes the ever so touching avatar used for months on this very site about the murder of Meredith Kercher.....
that ever so respectful avatar here showing a knife impaled in another human being's throat.

That goes well beyond your examples of the 'hate site's harassing or subtle ribbing avatars...it is obscene and inexcusable.

But your 'track record' and 'iceberg' exaggerations of course conveniently omitted that hometown gem of an avatar.

There is plenty of blame on both sides as Rose says so accurately yet graciously.
Superficial, biased, factually unbased arguments such as your 'iceberg' only inflame and irritate rather than help.

The avatar was absolutely obscene, uncalled for insensitive and inexcusable.
On a thread about the Murder of Meredith Kercher, the horrible, shameful connection would be made by anyone with greater than single digit IQ...not only 'guilters' as your argument suggests.
I strongly stand by my critical comments. The avatar earned them.

So, now, go ahead and add "bicker" to all the tired talking points used to slur others who simply do not allow all the frequent inflammatory falsehoods here to go unchallenged.

BTW your typical, characteristic, signature, snide, sarcastic comments about 'complete surprise' are noted and ignored due to respect for MA constraints

I answered pilot's e-mail and told him I would correct the wrong impression I have given here on JREF. The fact is, 65 people have not been banned at PMF. Each of the people on the list below was either banned, threatened with banning, asked to leave, "thanked for stopping by," or ostracized by the group until they left of their own initiative. Some expulsions were only temporary; some posters came back after a required time-out. I apologize for speaking too broadly.

As of this past March, PMF had had a total of 477 members who had made posts on the site. 65 is 13.6% of 477. That seems sizable to me.

Acepetdec, Adentre, Anadara, Aspie, Bilko, BlackDog, Brooktrout, Bruce F, Butters_02, CDHost, Charlie Wilkes, Chris C, Chris Mellas, Chris H, Competence, Cora, Darksoul, Deathfish2000, Don Paulo, Donnie, Dougpdx, DrZaius, Earl Gray, Erin89, FromHell, FrumpyCat, Gobjob, Goofy, Grimly, Harry R. Wilkens, Hershon, Jake80, Jason_01, Jsbjoey, Justinian, Kaosium, Katody, Katy_did, KayPea, Kevin, Komponisto, Lane99, London John, Lone_wolfe, Moodstream, Motorhead, Mstv14420, Mulder_01, Nathan05, NoamChomsky, Pink Rabbit, Pyromaniac, RoseMontag, Rosewhite, Rumpole, Solange, SomeAlibi, Steve.body, Tamale, Thoughtful, Trrooonnnic, Undecided, Vespaciano, Whatever, Willawinda

Corrections and additions are welcome.

I was banned very quickly by PMF. I made less than 10 posts none of which contained any logical fallacies (ad homs). However my name lives on as PMF has bashed me over 190 times.

truejustice.org never even let me join. Only true cowards degrade a person behind his back.

Thanks for the clarification, Kevin. pilot's depiction was so emotional that I misread it, indeed. After seeing that album cover I admit it's not that graphic. I can only say that anyone repulsed and distressed by it should definitely drop true crime interests in favor of some more serene hobby.
pilot referred to JREF as this very site about the murder of Meredith Kercher. I think some of his misunderstanding stems from this.

If the stories of police corruption are true then in my mind it doesn't matter whether or not Amanda is guilty, she should be released.

Oh, they're true alright. It's very easy to see where the rails went off the track in this case. On November fifth they subjected Amanda Knox to an overnight interrogation that took twelve cops and seven hours before they got what they wanted, which was a 'vague' 'confused' 'admission' she was at the scene of the crime when Patrick Lumumba murdered Meredith. They hadn't gotten the results of the forensics back yet, they were going on information which would all turn out to be coincidence, misunderstanding, or just plain mistaken. However, they arrested Patrick Lumumba, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, and claimed they sexually abused and murdered her and then 'staged' a break-in to cover it up.

Two weeks later the German police arrested Rudy Guede, a break-in artist who had left his spore all over the crime scene, nothing had been found of Raffaele, Amanda or Patrick, though they'd made confirmation bias errors 'attributing' things to them that would later embarrass them. Basically they blew the interrogation, managed to temporarily convince this poor traumatized girl she was having 'recovered memories,' and jumped the gun on the arrests. In the meantime they'd managed to fool themselves that somehow Raffaele and Amanda were still involved, so they just 'traded' Patrick for Rudy and allowed their implausible original theory to stand.

I didn't realize Italy had such a low free press rating, I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. It seems like they don't deserve that though.

Neither did I, it amazed me as well. While I was initially reading through some of this stuff about the blatant lies and errors made by police to the press I kept thinking it couldn't be true, as the press would hold their feet to the fire, like they do in just about any democratic country. I was astonished to find that wasn't the case in Italy. Instead the press there licks the boots of the police for more juicy tidbits of sleaze, which the police was more than happy to be forthcoming with.

If the bickering about who said what and who Frank likes is all over, I know I'm going back over old territory for most people because I'm looking at things from 2008-2009. I have to admit that based on the conclusions from the court documents and reasons given, I'd have voted guilty too, my trouble is that a number of those reasons now seem to have started evapourating and are no longer applicable. Anyway here's the questions, would appreciate any direction to find the answer, thanks.

1) The claim is made the Amanda's DNA was found on Meredith's bra. Is this claim true?

No, and I cannot think of where that could have come from.

2) Claim was made that Amanda's DNA was found on the bra clip with Rafelle's. Is this true? I have also heard that there was other people's found on it, whose?

The bra-clasp most definitely doesn't contain a full profile of Amanda, and there's no real reason to think her DNA was found there other than at least one other female contributed to the soup of alleles in that unlikely congregation aboard that tiny clasp.

3) The claim is made that Amanda's blood was found mixed with Meredith's in the bathroom, I have also heard that while her DNA was found that it wasn't blood, which is true?

Amanda and Meredith's blood never mixed in the bathroom. However, Rudy Guede washed up there and mixed the blood from Meredith with Amanda's DNA in her own sink, and on her cotton swabs. Amanda did have a drop of blood smeared on the faucet from her dubious effort to turn her ears into pincushions, but it did not mix with Meredith's blood.

I don't think Barbie Nadeau ever got this straight, she's usually source of the 'blood mixing in bathroom' claim.

4) The claim is made that Amanda's shoe print was found under the pillow on the bed. Is this true, or was this the footprint that was claimed to be Rafelle's and then turned out to be Rudy's?

There's a smeared half-footprint they tried like hell to maintain was Amanda's, being as they couldn't find anything else of hers in the murder room, but that also suggests it was just one of Rudy's that was shaped funny because of the fold and the nature of it. Massei punted, he couldn't figure out a way to accept that attribution and the next.

5) Claim is made that "bare bloody footprints" lead from Meredith's bedroom to the bathroom and about the house, including both Filomena's and Amanda's. These are claimed not to be Rudy's due to the size. Is this true? How would they have gotten there otherwise?

These are the luminol footprints originally discovered the same time they 'collected' the bra clasp when they started running out of 'evidence' as the mindless error they made with Raffaele's shoeprints in the murder room you noted in the previous question was revealed.

In short, they tested negative for blood with the TMB test, they weren't compared to anyone else, and they were negative for DNA. They never even bothered with a confirmatory test, which suggests either they thought at the time they weren't blood and thus discontinued testing, or they knew they'd test negative and didn't want to perform the test. To have presented them in court without informing anyone of the negative TMB test, the negative DNA test and the lack of a confirmatory test and have Comodi say something to the effect of 'they could be blood or turnip juice, you decide' is the pinnacle of disingenuous.

As for what they could be, they could be any number of items found in the bathroom that got tracked back to Meredith's and Amanda's room. Note that the one by Meredith's door is going into not out of the room. They could also be highly diluted blood, perhaps some water pooled near the bathmat and Amanda stepped into it as she left the shower doing her 'bathmat boogie.' However, if that's the case, then Stafanoni lied when she said she saw the typical chemiluminescence pattern form, blood diluted to the extent necessary (below 1:1,000,000) to fail the TMB test wouldn't glow brightly like undiluted blood.

6) Claim was made that Meredith's bra was removed after her death because there was no blood where it would have been. I have also seen it claimed that as blood was found on her breast area, that it was removed before she died. Which is correct?

I believe there's blood droplets from her aspirating, thus suggesting it was before she died.

7) When did Allessandra Formica see Rudy?
10:40, I just looked this one up. I was unaware however that she claimed it wasn't Rudy.

8) Has Hekuran Kokomani's testimony been properly refuted?
No, it's definitely true--he's crazy. :D

Other than that it didn't match anything or make sense, thus what was he testifying to other than his own nuttiness?

9) What did Amanda tell Filomena when she rang at 12:08pm the day after the murder?

That she was one freaked out chick! :p

10) What evidence is there for when the postal police arrived at the cottage other than the camera footage?

That a policeman lied and not even Massei was fooled. Other than that it was a damn silly contention for the cops to have made in the first place. The phone records reveal they were calling all over the world the morning they discovered the murder, the idea that they for some reason were trying to keep it a secret is just inane.

11) A claim was made that traces of glass were found leading out of Filomena's room and out the front door. Can this be verified or refuted?

Huh? There was a piece of glass in the hall or something that some think Meredith might have fallen on with her hands in the struggle, but I know of no 'trail.' Have you been reading Harry Rag? :)

12) Was Meredith's blood mixed with Knox's DNA found in Filomena's room?

Yes, dunno how it might have gotten there for sure, but anywhere Meredith bled she might have done so in Amanda's DNA, after all Amanda lived there. It is also quite possible it was the result of Rudy or a forensic technician walking around in Rudy's bloody shoeprints, and then tracking it into Amanda's DNA. It's an anomaly, there's nothing it 'fits' with.

Thanks, going from that lead me to the part about the DNA collection in the cottage, I was gobsmacked. I had read it was poorly done, but that is incredible, in the true meaning of the word. How anyone, especially a supposedly trained Forensics Investigator, could possibly think that what was done in the Bathroom was good practice escapes me. After seeing that I would have to consider anyone that thinks the mixing of DNA and blood in the bathroom was suspicious to be as crazy as a no-planer truther. Seriously, how could they samples NOT have had a mixing of DNA, the sample collection couldn't have missed mixing anything from anyone that had used the bathroom.

Having noted that however, does anyone know if the samples were tested for Rudy's DNA?

My understanding is that you don't test for any particular set of DNA, you just amplify what's there and see what pops out, and Rudy's didn't pop out.

That's not unexpected - your skin isn't water or blood-soluble. The guilters like the idea that if you get blood on your hands it carries away your DNA with every drip, because then they can enjoy the belief that the mixed DNA results are evidence Amanda wandered through the house with blood dripping from her hand like Lady Macbeth. However as the actual test results demonstrate if you wash your hands in a sink it's not necessary that you will leave DNA there.

If you brushed your teeth and spat into the sink, or fiddled with an infected piercing over the sink, obviously it would be a different story. It's no surprise that they found Amanda's DNA in her own sink but not Rudy's.

They claimed none was found there, outside on the toilet paper from his relieving himself. Maybe on the light switch too, though that might just be Meredith's blood, I can't recall.

As you've noticed, they didn't do this to FBI standard or anything how it looks on CSI, thus expecting anything different in the bathroom than elsewhere is awfully unlikely. I don't think they initially spent much time in the bathroom, as they thought they had all they needed from the murder room, leaving the jacket, purse and other items just laying around. There's only so much evidence they needed to convict Rudy Guede, and he left relative bucketloads. When they came back, 46 days later, they weren't really looking for additional evidence against Rudy...

This is one of the issues I have with the current way justice systems work. The defence is reliant on the Police to do the forensics right, and if they don't, or they decide that a test might "muddy the waters" they can just not do it, and the defense never has access to that information. It's like hiding things that the police decide aren't relevant to the case, they don't have to be handed over. All this does is start the Defence on the backfoot right from the start.

Police work and trials should be about finding out the truth, not just confirming the police's suspicions. They should follow the evidence, even if they don't like where it leads.

Thanks for that Kevin, I never realised that your hands didn't disolve in water, imagine that, think of all those showers I avoided for fear of looking like the wicked witch of the west.

Now seriously, I believe I have read somewhere that during the attack Rudy cut his hand, so that would mean he had his own blood on him in the bathroom, I was really interested in what evidence directly shows that he went into the bathroom and not just straight down the hallway and out of the house.

Kevin,

I think they should have found RG's blood in the sink. Rudy Guede had two knife cuts in his right hand. When he washed his hands he should have left a mixture of his and Meredith's blood in the sink. Is it possible all his blood could have been rinsed down the sink?

I just mentioned the knife cuts also! Great minds. :)

We know from Rudy Guede's own account that he went into the bathroom to grab towels to stem the blood flow from MK's neck.

Thanks for that Kevin, I never realised that your hands didn't disolve in water, imagine that, think of all those showers I avoided for fear of looking like the wicked witch of the west.

Now seriously, I believe I have read somewhere that during the attack Rudy cut his hand,

He had a healing wound on his hand when arrested, but the provenance of it isn't completely clear.

He could have cut his hand on the glass window as he entered, but there's no blood on the window or other sign of that.

He could have cut his hand on his own knife, if he attempted to stab Meredith without having a firm enough grip on the weapon - Steve Moore stated that such injuries weren't uncommon with inexperienced attackers using knives that do not have a guard to stop one's hand slipping towards the blade, and it's his area of expertise so I'm inclined to believe that's true.

No blood was identified as his, but there was enough blood around in the murder room that it doesn't seem incredible that his blood got mixed up with Meredith's and hence never got detected.

He could even have cut his hand in some entirely unrelated way after the attack and before he was caught.

To my knowledge no photograph of his hand injury is available, which is unfortunate. I'd quite like to see one.

so that would mean he had his own blood on him in the bathroom, I was really interested in what evidence directly shows that he went into the bathroom and not just straight down the hallway and out of the house.

Well, if you have already concluded that Amanda and Raffaele weren't involved then the deduction that Rudy visited the bathroom follows immediately since Meredith's blood didn't get into the sink, bidet and shower by itself.

If you haven't concluded that, then the major arguments for Rudy visiting the bathroom are that the footprint made in blood and water on the bathmat is a better fit for Rudy than Raffaele (although it's ambiguous to some limited extent), and that Rudy claimed himself in his statement to have visited the bathroom.

The Massei/Mignini fantasy version where Rudy bolts straight out of the murder room and out the door directly contradicts Rudy's own testimony. (The usual guilter response is to say "So what, he probably lied" and then ignore the question of why he lied about that particular point if not to explain any traces of himself he might have left while actually being in the bathroom).

It would have been nice for the defence if the prosecution had found blood from Guede somewhere in the house, but apparently they didn't. If he cut himself, possibly he bandaged the wound before leaving the murder room and after cleaning it in the sink.

This is one of the issues I have with the current way justice systems work. The defence is reliant on the Police to do the forensics right, and if they don't, or they decide that a test might "muddy the waters" they can just not do it, and the defense never has access to that information. No argument from me of course, that's the way they do it where I come from too. Oddly enough, around the same time, circa spring '08 a girl was murdered in almost the exact same circumstances, most likely a homeless person who'd tried breaking in the day before. She lived maybe three blocks from where I was at the time. I posted a list of reports from one of our TV stations in the last thread, noting that amongst the initial reports there was one guy who said he 'might have been at the scene--he liked to check out crime scenes'--another who'd 'confessed' to another homeless guy he'd done it, and a third was found not long afterward in an altercation with blood on him. None of them matched the evidence, so our police didn't arrest them.

They know who did it, not the name but the DNA profile, they just don't match anyone in the records, so until that slob gets picked up somewhere (odds are he left town) and they get that information, the death of Brittany Zimmerman goes unavenged. However, at least they didn't round up one of those poor disturbed souls and run him through our prison system just to pretend they 'solved' the case.

The footprint on the bathmat, it sure looks to me more like Rudy's than Raffaele's though I wouldn't take anyone's freedom from them just on that basis. There's also blood in the bathroom; the light switch and maybe the door as well.

I always found that avatar to be in poor taste on this thread. Regardless of what you were using it for elsewhere, Kevin, I assumed it alluded to the murder (I'm not familiar with the album cover it came from). However, since some people apparently complained about it without the mods removing it, I just sucked it up.

I also agree that "bicker" is a slur. Bickering is in the eye of the beholder. The only thing that bothers me is when people get to the point where I'm afraid they're going to be banned, because I hate to see anyone banned (except treehorn).

On this thread and on all the case-related threads, posters are always telling each other in one way or another to shut up, which I find really odd. I see no reason to tell anyone else to stop writing something. It's not like anyone is forcing me to read it.

Rudy Guede's hand cut

He had a healing wound on his hand when arrested, but the provenance of it isn't completely clear.

To my knowledge no photograph of his hand injury is available, which is unfortunate. I'd quite like to see one.

Here's an article from Andrea Vogt where she mentions Rudy Guede's story:

"In Guede's version, he then put on the headphones to his iPod and listened to three songs while on the toilet, but heard an argument escalating. He came out of the bathroom with his pants partly undone and was confronted by a knife-wielding Italian man. The two scuffled, he maintains, then the Italian fled after cutting him in the right palm and saying "black man found, black man guilty."

Guede then claims he saw Kercher bleeding heavily on the floor in her room and tried to save her, but panicked, thinking he would be framed for the crime. He fled and later that night went to a disco. He was found in Germany more than two weeks later and arrested, then extradited to Italy."

And this from the Micheli Report:
CUTS ON GUEDE'S HAND MENTIONED
The G[Rudy Guede]. that it had not recognized that person, but having seen M.[Meredith Kercher] bleeding on the floor: then he grabbed the man and asked him what he had done, but the other had turned violently trying to hit him with a knife in his hand, probably the left, and in effect causing a wound on his right hand (Photo taken care of by some remarks by German police, were very small cut on his hand injury prevented).

Can anyone confirm that Amanda claimed to have washed her hair when she showered and then used Filomena's hair dryer that morning?

I don't recall her saying she washed her hair but she does talk about using the hair dryer in the large bath which Filomena and Laura share. This would be in her testimony ("AK: Then I went into the other bathroom to dry my hair, because there was no hair dryer in my bathroom. So I went there, I took the hair dryer, I was drying my hair, and then when I put the hair dryer back, I saw that in the toilet, ...") and her email home ("after i got
dressed i went to the other bathroom in my house, the one that
filomena dn laura use, and used their hairdryer to obviously dry my
hair
"). The driers (two) are stored on the far end of the counter in the outer room of the split bathroom and the outlet and mirror are over by the washing machine. These are seen in the crime scene video of Nov. 2nd at 15:11.

Do we know for sure that Rudy said he went into the bathroom for the towels? I, too, have always thought there should have been more evidence of Rudy in the bathroom.
