Presidential Primaries 2012

If I can pull it off, I'm going to go caucus next year. Mostly just to see how dull it is, but partly to try again to get pro-scientific medicine considered as part of the county Democratic Platform.
Don't count on dull. Or orderly.

Will Rogers really nailed it when he said "I don't belong to an organized political party. I'm a Democrat."

Expect a cat round-up.

G. Johnson will announce on April 21. I didn't see anything about an exploratory committee, but an announcement of an impending announcement is good enough for me to add the dot. http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/04/05/gary-johnson-knows-hell-be-labeled-pot-candidate

The big news is the former New Mexico governor's signature issue: Marijuana legalization.

Well, good luck with that. He has lost the religious whackadoodle vote on that one issue.

I am begining to wonder whether Jindal should even be taken seriously without his having announced. I haven't heard a peep out of him lately. I think maybe his presidential potential washed out to sea with his sand piles.

Not that I would not like to see him take the nomination, maybe along with Ms Moosemeat or Bachman.:D

I just found an article from last November wherein B. Jindal bows out. I'll strike him through on the next update.

"Romney announces WH exploratory committee"

Should that be an empty dot? Or does it warrant a solid dot because Johnson has announced that he certainly will announce?

Thanks for the W. "M." Romney update. I guess I went ahead with the solid dot on G. Johnson because it was a definitive statement from his campaign apparatus that he is running and will skip the expl cmte to enter the race directly this month.

Now it's on! W. "M." Romney has announced his exploratory committee -- gets dot.

B. Jindal goes out, belatedly, having taken a pass last November.

On the housekeeping front, I am striking D. Hunter. I put him on the original list in the OP, but no buzz on him or hint from him ever materialized.

Mitt's announcement video.

It's a bit like a corporate video rather than the declaration of an interest in the Presidency.

Tim Pawlenty (Or T-Paw) has released this video of him in New Hampshire, showing the sign: 'Live free or die'.

Now look at the comments.

The comments have been disappeared and disabled, and your post was only a half hour ago. Dang, that was fast.

Can you give a sample?

I really hope that Trump officially throws his hat in the ring. I think someone should make a documentary of his campaign. I really think it will be bizarre and intriguing. It wouldn't lead to Trump being president but it could be an interesting disaster to watch.

I would not be surprised if Trump, himself, produced a reality show of his run.

For crying out loud, how many variations of running but not quite are we going to see this cycle? The latest is R. Santorum, who has created a fundraising account, but not an expl. cmte. He won't slip from my grasp -- here's a solid dot for the guy whose name has become a naughty byword.

By the way, R. Ailes of Fox News had already suspended N. Gingrich and R. Santorum from their duties on the teevee due to possible prez runs, but did not take that step with S. Palin, M. Huckabee or J. Bolton. I think he knows what's what.

One of those wow-what-was-he-thinking? candidates has decided against the plunge. So long to H. Barbour.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing the other day.
That's probably good for Pawlenty, if neither Huckabee nor Palin run.

Maybe he hopes that those lunatics stay on the news team to help promote a grown-up candidate, rather than run for the presidency themselves. This keeps the lunatic base behind the front-running Republicon, no matter what. Sitting at the news desk, they need not be grilled as to just how out of phase with the universe they are themselves.

It would not do well for people to notice too much about Bolton while he is tied directly to the GOP.

I do not think thaat, as a quasi-journalist, he is too eager to have the public look deeply into the Bolton continuum. It's kind of creepy out there where his mind lives.
