Even factoring in the risk of HIV "porn star" still isn't in the top ten dangerous professions alongside taxi driving, pizza delivery and chainsawing trees. If the goal was really to prevent teachers modelling dangerous behaviour for students then they should sack any of them who cut down a tree. I can't see that happening.
I agree that that's pretty much how it works today, but there's a difference between 'is' and 'should'. I'm going to keep going back to the gay analogy, but 50 years ago it was hard for most people to look at someone the same again after they came out as gay. The people who actually see porn are those who choose to, for their own pleasure. That's pretty much how it works, yeah.
Many go into porn thinking that will get them mainstream roles in Hollywood, which rarely happens. Usually it gets you blacklisted.
But then again, so can being in a successful sitcom. What did Bob Denver ever do after Gilligan's Island?
I think a porn star working in a school woulkd be a major distraction, both to the kids (who will eventually find out) and to coworkers. It's hard for most people to look at someone the same again after seeing them doing the things porn stars do.
The thought occurred to me but it seemed like too obvious a point to even require mentioning. The kid was only exposed to this by doing what society's conventional thinkers say he shouldn't be doing. So everyone is good with the thought that a 14 year old student recognised her![]()
And if homosexuality is not generally accepted by a society and a gay person comes out of the closet, knowing the risk before hand, they should be let go too?As long as porn is not generally accepted by a society - and I would say Canadians mostly do not accept it - a high school secretary should not be allowed to "moonlight in a porn movie", and thus should be let go.
I am fairly sure she knew about the risk beforehand, she made a calculated move and it backfired.
Only people who choose to watch porn see it. There's a hypocrisy in people who watch this stuff for their own pleasure holding those who make it in contempt. There's a difference between being taught about sex in a clinical way, and watching people have sex. There is a difference between doing something on your own time, and doing something on your own time that everyone can see.
However, if you know bad things can happen if you make a porno, and you do it anyway, you deserve what happens to you.

A quick Google search shows she wasn't engaging in safe sex in her pornos, hardly the example kids should be learning about.
I'm sorry, I'm ethically opposed to sensationalism for its own sake. The porn in the OP, by the way, wasn't made or shown 'in public'. A female employee is being sanctioned for undertaking legal activity in private in her own time.
And as I have shown testing does not prevent STDs. There is a period after infection and before the disease shows up on tests, but during which the STD is communicable. A porn star can have sex with dozens of coworkers in this time, who in turn have sex with others."Safe" here meaning with a condom?
There are other ways to be safe, such as testing all participants for STDs.
Would you feel any different about your wife if she decided to take a job as a porn actress? Why or why not? This. Porn is viewed only by people who choose to view it. To those who don't choose to view it, the knowledge that she is a porn star is no different than the knowledge that another person is gay. It's just information about the person's sexuality, which is their own business. Anyone who views it is satisfying their own sexual curiosity and/or desire, and is in no position to hold the person who makes it in contempt. I think it's the height of hypocrisy for consumers of porn to hold the makers of it in contempt.
That's pretty much how it works, yeah.

So it's not 100% safe. Neither is driving a car.And as I have shown testing does not prevent STDs. There is a period after infection and before the disease shows up on tests, but during which the STD is communicable. A porn star can have sex with dozens of coworkers in this time, who in turn have sex with others.
Irrelevant. We're talking about an employee not a spouse.Would you feel any different about your wife if she decided to take a job as a porn actress? Why or why not?
Where do they visit the sites? In the privacy of their own homes. Taking a dump is accepted, but is getting paid for someone to film you taking a dump?
Not for a school employee.
It belongs in the bathroom.
What is the age range of the school children in question? 13-18? So how is your statistic relevant in any way, other than the overlap at age 18, which makes it "okay" for them to purchase or view porn, but still doesn't make it okay for a porn actress to work in the office of the school?
LOL!I have now.
Several times.
FWIW, if one of my staff turned out to be moonlighting as a porn star, I wouldn't be stupid enough to sack or discipline her, but would let her know that her future would be limited. There is such a thing as bad publicity.
So, firing would be stupid, but mobbing her wouldn't?
So don't look. If people choose to watch porn, the consequences of that viewing is their own responsibility. It's hard for most people to look at someone the same again after seeing them doing the things porn stars do.
Did I say anything about mobbing her?
Yes, you did.
"Is it a book you would wish your wife or servants to read?"Would you feel any different about your wife if she decided to take a job as a porn actress?
