Merged Glenn Beck leaving Fox show

When he was on one of his "Vacations" a few weeks ago, the ratings for the substitute host were just as good as for Beck, when usually a talk show's ratings plummet when there is a substitute host. That might have been the kiss of death for Beck:Fox can hire somebody who will cost a lot less and still get the same ratings and not have the embarassment.

I don't really care about Beck. Plus he will still be producing content for Fox (likely one hour specials) and he basically has a media empire so he will still be around making headlines. I am much more interested in who or what is going to replace his 5pm show. Even though Beck was divisive he still brought in the viewers. Far and away more than Wolf or Matthews at 5pm and and was one of the highest viewed shows on cable news. So I am quite interested in seeing what they will put at 5pm to replace him. Will they bring in someone new? Give someone at the network their own show like they did with Megyn Kelly? A new crossfire type show?

Oh well!

At least I will be futher spared that trick he has where he rubs "Vicks Vapo-Rub" under his eyes so that he can cry on camera.

However, Beck will still have his radio show where he can yell/patronize/lecture his listeners for about four hours every day five days a week. But at least it is a good bit easier to ignore his radio show than his TV show.

So rather than leaving Fox he and his production company will produce an even bigger pile of crap to be aired on Fox Noise?

It seems to me he's been investing a lot recently in the growth of his company, and in his blog (theblaze.com), and in some other stuff. I got the feeling these investments were not panning out. And without his outlet on Fox to promote them, I'd expect his radio show to start frantically pushing them (even more so than they already do).

Not really. His website is pretty popular (for a conservative blog that started up not too long ago...it's already twice as popular as Hotair which has been around for quite a while) and he already does (or at least did) sold out tours with O'Reilly around the country. Plus he has best selling books, a growing media empire including his radio show, has influence in the tea party, and can gather a huge amount of people for a rally if he wanted to. I think things are panning out ok for Beck. This actually is probably a smart move for him getting off Fox since his show was getting pretty stale. He needs to do something new to capture new fans. He already has all the fans he's going to get from Fox and they will probably follow him anywhere (if they didn't listen to his radio show before now they will have to to get more Beck).
