If you hide in a school and start shooting me, my choices are either fire on the school knowing I might kill some children, or let you keep shooting without stopping you.
Personally, I'd go for A, but that's just me.
Hell, I have some serious issues with the Israeli state and it's government, I don't like the way it goes about things and it's most certainly done some pretty unpleasant stuff, but the fact is they are and always have been under attack since the state was founded. You can argue all day about whether the state should even exist where and how it does, but in the world in which we all live, it is there. Israel is a reality and Israel will always come under attack by some groups of Arabs in the area. The point is not "It's their fault for being there, they brought it on themselves" but "Ok, so it's there and under attack, how do we stop that?".
In my personal opinion, it requires both an open hand and a mailed fist approach. An open hand to the Palestinian people, a shutdown of illegal Israeli settlements, land and trade agreements and a final plan on what to do with the contested land. A mailed fist to drive out the scum-sucking sons of bitches who hide in schools, launch quassam rockets and fire illegally purchased machine guns and broadcast anti-semetic genocidal propoganda 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Is Israel always right? No, of course not. It's a state of human beings, some of whom happen to be colossal asshats, but to be frank on balance? Any piece of slime who cares so little for the people he's "defending" to use women and children as human shields, or worse, as soldiers deserves way more contempt than an army forced to confront said slime.
