The quote in Huck's own voice is about 50 seconds in on
this video. He made a completely false claim that single mothers were mostly uneducated, unemployed and if not for welfare their kids would starve.
I posted the evidence Huck is disgustingly full of it in
this post.
Where is the radio program? What I meant was the source -- Huckabee's complete statement.
I am skeptical of CNN. I am suspicious. Since I have been part of military events that were grossly misreported by the news media, I am suspicious and dubious and untrusting. Their primary motive of the news is not to report facts. It is to "report" a good and captivating story and often this is accomplished by taking things out of context.
This CNN linked video takes two brief comments of what Huckabee said on a radio program and then they embellished it.
The context of what Huckabee was saying is thrown away. The two sound bytes are all that is important because they can be used to make a damaging news broadcast that makes people watch. So that people watch CNN. That is how the news media rolls in the USA.
So he said one sentence that had some statistics that you can find a linked source that disagrees. But what was the core point the Huckabee was trying to make? To CNN this does not matter because they know their audience. The audience is the American public that has the attention span of a gold fish and the education level of a fourth grader.
"Ooh, Mike Huckabee made one incorrect statistical supposition in the context of a radio program". They must think they struck gold. They don't give a damn what point he was trying to make. They just know they can get some people to come on their show and pounce and denounce these two comments for what the comments themselves say. Apparently you are on board with this way of seeing the world.
Here I was thinking you were going to find the radio show in its entirety. Maybe if I go to the source it looks worse. But I doubt it. Otherwise they would have used the whole radio program and leave it in its context.
Rush Limbaugh has often dedicated a complete program out of how the main stream news has taken one sentence he has said and used that to make it seem that he meant something he did not even really say.
Since this CNN report is relying on comentary that assumes Huckabee is personally attacking natalie Portman, I find the whole thing to be hog wash and it is manipulating the viewers emotions and opinions and assumption of what Huckabee was trying to do. In a court of law, a good judge would see this trick and throw out the testimony.
If Huckabee is wrong that most single moms are on welfare, this is minutia.
What I think he means is single teen moms. I suspect that this was the context in which he made this statement. If this is true, CNN pulled an underhanded trick. And if most single teen moms are not on welfare and public assistance. then probably many are. It sure seems that way according to the reports of the problem I have seen on the news.
