General Israel/Palestine discussion thread

Yeah, using the Hamas Charter to explain intentions and policies of Hamas is, like, so silly and if you think about it really unfair!

Why's it unfair as well as silly? Well, because having it all written down there in black and white for all to see is really, really incriminating. Everybody, including witless supporters of Hamas, knows just how bad the words are that when they are shown to supporters and sympathizers and I-honestly-have-no-opinioners after about five or six times (because it often takes that many times before they finally get down off their "anti-Zionist" soapbox to read the bloody thing) their first response is always to deny that such words could possibly be written in the Charter. Why do they deny those words? Well, because again they are acknowledging exactly how incriminating those words are.

So from there they could say, and it would be reasonable enough to do this, "Oh my! I never knew those words were in there! I didn't realize and I think I may have to seriously reconsider my position somewhat!"

But instead they go into dissembling mode or move the goalposts or discover that Hamas have no agency by either:

a) Going into complete denial (has bikerdruid actually acknowledged that those words were in the Charter yet?)
b) Blaming Israel for the words in the Charter: It must be Israel's fault for driving Hamas to this position or, I know, didn't Israel, like, totally support Hamas in the First Intifada or something - I read it in "Pain-in-the-Ass Reactionary Leftism For Dummies".
c) Opining that, get this, "Trees and stones don't talk ROLFMAO :) !"
d) Making a string of fatuous diversionary comments about how quoting Hamas' Charter must mean you're a racist/bigot/somethingorother.
boring repetative strawmanathon.....

look son, I know its pretty sad that the rest of the world doesn't necessarily agree with your interpretation of what something means. but you need to get over it....

The Fool has a point, Angrysoba.

You forgot to add "Misattribution of fallacies" and "condescending unsupported denials" to your list.

I can't help it if every time I click on a thread I find another post by you trying to contextualize or wave away Hamas quotes or explain that Hamas are the good guys in Gaza for their stalwart effort in cracking down on those who fire missiles into Israel.

funny.

why is it funny? because you had to GO SEARCHING for that FIVE MONTH OLD THREAD, where Hamas says they will crack down on militants who fire rockets in Israel.

see? the thread wasn't just there. YOU had to make the conscious choice to go looking for it.

is it MY FAULT that you chose to do such a search? nope.

can YOU help yourself from engaging in such behavior? yup.

dude, you have no one to blaim but YOURSELF, if you chose to go searching through my threads, hoping to find something to possibly/hopefully/maybe use against me, and find one that's 5 months old.

help me, help you. :)

...and just out of curiosity...how did you find that thread? I couldn't find it.

Thunder, it is quite clear if you look at that thread I pulled up that I had read it before. That is how I knew that it was a habit of yours to laugh off or pooh-pooh the "rocks and trees" quote. You even put it in your signature to advertise anyone who even stumbled on a post of yours that you thought the quote wasn't to be taken seriously.

Thunder, I'm not going after you, if that's what you think. It simply happens that half the posts on JREF* are yours and you post incontinently so I can almost not avoid your posts and we are clearly interested in reading and commenting on the same subjects.

* I am using hyperbole. This is not to be taken literally. You do not need to show me how many posts actually have been posted on JREF so that you can work out which proportion actually is yours and use this piece of pedantry to score points and declare victory!

well, now I wanna know how you found that thread.

I searched through my threads, and I could not go back to October 2010. I make a lot of threads.

So, how did you find it?

I'd really like to know.

****See this is what I told you about when it comes to editing your posts to put in new information and lines of inquiry. It's confusing to someone who is replying to one of your posts.****

If you will notice the thread you will see that I had was the second of third person to reply to it.

Click this link to see how I found it!

got it.

my friend, it makes no sense to complain about my posts just popping out at you, when you then go searching for my threads and posts.

its kinda self-defeating, wouldn't you say?

and more importantly, if my threads and posts really bother you that much, I welcome you to put me on ignore. Its ok, I won't be offended.

Is missing the point your chosen specialist subject?

You asked why I had put "joyfull jibberjabber" on the end of my paraphrase of you talking about "rocks and trees". I was pointing out that YOU do exactly this and I knew where to find an example.

its 2011. do you think its fair to STILL boycott companies that had something to do with the Nazis....66 years ago?

Well, I'm not Jewish, nor am I boycotting Bayer for conducting experiments on Jews during the holocaust, but I think that people who survived the holocaust would still be a little touchy about it.

I find it strange that its illegal for an American company owned by an Arab, who's family was forced to flee Palestine in 1948...is NOT allowed to boycott Israeli products. But an American company owned by a Jew who's family came to the USA from Germany in 1877 IS allowed to today boycott German products. Funny huh?

Well, it's about companies enacting boycotts at the behest of foreign countries in order to influence a nation's foreign policy (such as the BDS, which you STILL have not googled). Read the law I posted (I know you didn't). Secondly, I don't know of any Jewish owned companies that are boycotting German products (you have yet to elaborate on a a comprehensive list of said products), but feel free to list them.

As I have pointed out before, and you consistently refuse to acknowledge; You do not know what my position on the arab/muslim community is, you have never asked.
your position is easily deduced from your many posts and comments against muslums.

You won't ask me what my thoughts on the arab/muslim community are because you've already made your mind up?

Classic conspiracy theorist/racist thinking in a nutshell.

Hamas calls for the extermination of the Jews, but ZOMG!!!! an Israeli political party doesn't call for a Palestinian state! Palestinians just want peace but Israel is evil Apartheid pariah state!!!!

should an Arab man who lost his home and kicked out of Israel in 1948, and now lives in the USA, be prevented by American law from boycotting Israeli products & services?

why does a Holocaust survivor have the right to boycott German products, but a victim of the Nahkba NOT have the right to boycott Israeli goods?

Who is doing that? If he doesn't want to use an Intel processor or a camera phone, or instant messaging or USB flash drives because they were developed in Israel, who's forcing him to? Beside the fact that their contributions to society are too awesome to boycott. I bet even hardline Palestinian militants can't stop using that stuff.

Who is doing that?

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/04/education/04hummus.html

At Princeton and DePaul Universities, Palestinian students and their supporters have challenged the sale of Sabra hummus in an effort to focus attention on accusations that Israeli military forces violated human rights.

I totally support the following:

In addition to the campus efforts against Sabra hummus, there is a broader boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, framing Israel as analogous to South Africa in the era of apartheid. In October, in Philadelphia, a flash mob went into a supermarket to call for a Sabra boycott, singing, “Don’t buy into Israeli apartheid.”

cool huh? :)
