It's like all the anti-Islam trolls left their computers and went outside together. Really, what's the fun of shouting "U S A" and "Go HOME!" if you can't scare a few kids, right? <---sarcasm, btw.

Highlights: References to The Constitution. You know, the one that has that silly line about "prohibiting the free exercise" of religion. Various teabag politicians patting their lapdogs on the head and in the case of an over-riled council woman, making some not so subtle death threats.

"A protest of a Muslim fundraising event in Orange County last month devolved into chants of 'Muhammed was a pervert,' 'you beat your wife and rape your children,' and the like, according to a new video of the demonstration (see below)."

No worse than a JREF thread.

But attention was drawn to the event because of two controversial speakers, Siraj Wahhaj and Abdel Malik Ali. The Orange County Register reported:

Wahhaj is an imam at a mosque in Brooklyn. A U.S. attorney named him and 169 others as co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Wahhaj was never charged and has denied involvement.

Malik Ali is a Bay Area Islamic activist who spoke at "Israeli Apartheid Week" at UC Irvine in 2010. There he said he supports Hezbollah, which the CIA labels a terrorist group.

And now you know... the rest of the story!

Yes, you can totally tell by the chants of "Muhammed was a pervert, Muhammed was a fraud. Muhammed was a false prophet, " "you beat your wife and rape your children," "go back home," and "USA! USA!" by the protesters that they were concerned only with the possible terrorist connections and sympathies of two of the speakers at the fundraiser, and were not motivated at all by unreasoning bigotry against Muslims as a whole.

The ones I would like out of mycountry were the dirty animals outside the yellow tape, including those sorry excuses for congress critters.

The Republicons have no honor if Royce and Miller are not censured for that crap. They have disgraced their offices.

I don't know everything that happened there, and some of what I do know I don't support, but you can expect serious criticism if you sponsor an advocate of Hezbollah. I would expect a rally sponsoring an advocate of Hezbollah to be protested in the same way I would expect a rally sponsoring a speaker advocating al-Qaeda or Nazism to protested.

Yep, no one should criticize this guy and organizations who promote him:

I still don't understand how any of this makes attacking and disrupting a worthy chartible event a good idea? All this does is demonstrate that these people are as bad as the people they are protesting.

You don't defeat an enemy by emulating everything that made that person your enemy in the first place. That's losing, not winning the war of ideas.

And? This fundraiser was not about Hezbollah, it was about taking care of people within the community. For this, these people had hateful slurs shouted at them, had their children frightened, were denounced as evil, and had their lives threatened.

The response from the ICNA is far more civil than these animals deserve.

I still don't understand how you can think it is a worthy event. At what point does it promoting grade A elephant %$^& overtake its stated goal?

So if a fan of Nazism spoke at a rally for the Republican Party you wouldn't have an issue with the Republican Party having a pro-Nazi speak for them because the rally was for Republicans and not Nazis?

Sorry, but I don't feel the same.

What did this guy say about Hezbollah anyway?

Something like this I imagine

tl;dw? Glorifying jihad and terrorism; attacks targeting Israeli civilians = good. And so on and so forth. He also seems to be living in a fantasy world where Israel didn't kick the ever loving **** out of Hezbollah in every single conflict ever fought between the two.

And this is worrying too

tl;dw? The Jews control the media and did 9/11; Israel is an apartheid state. And so on and so forth

The dirtbags still don't think there is anything wrong with harrassing Muslims and telling them to get out of this countyry.

The best thing those useless turds Royce and Miller could do for this country involves eating a large quantity of fugu livers.

For some reason, the video clip on Salon is now identified as private.

Is somebody powerful ashamed of being seen looking like a pile of dog poo?
