Let's bring this down to the simplest form. We place two posts such that there is an 8 foot distance between them. Use joist hangers to connect a 2X4X8' between the posts. Hang a mass at the center of the 2X4 and keep increasing this mass until one of two things happens 1) the 2X4 snaps, 2) the joist hangers fail.

Now increase the size of the posts but keep the open span the same. The mass required to cause failure will remain the same except in Ander's world where the increased post size will somehow allow a greater mass to be supported by the 2X4:rolleyes:

How do you know that the perpetrators were American citizens? Many of them could have been, but some of them could also be from other countries.

Sorry, I thought you were up on North American construction terminology.

2X4 means 2 inches by 4 inches (actually it refers to the rough cut dimensions even though one almost never purchases rough cut lumber)

So a 6X6 is 6 inches by 6 inches and a 4X4 is 4 inches by 4 inches.

At any rate the WTC towers core column increased in size(not in number) but that had no effect on the ability of a floor pan to support a load. You characterized the floors on lower levels as being capable of supporting a greater load. That is incorrect.

Ok, that may have been the case, but theoretically the floors could have been so strong that they were not the weakest 'link' and instead that the columns were the weakest link, but that was not likely the case. Still, I wonder if a sturdier support by the lower columns would make those floors able to take more weight than the higher floors. For example, the lower floors would tend less to wobble and shake.

But you asked if I blamed American citizens to be the perpetrators. I don't know what nationality the perpetrators had.

You are incorrect. Flight 175 crashed into the World Trade Center. Here is a quote from a phone call a one Peter Hansen, a passenger made on a call from that flight. Mr. Hansen was flying with his wife and 2 1/2 year old daughter.
