Merged Rep. Giffords Shot In Tucson

Considering that victims of gunshot wounds to the head are usually kept sedated for 2 or 3 days, this might not be vaild -- it's not (yet) on any of the Fox News webpages.

Yes, that's why I made sure to include that it was from Twitter.

However, if what you say is true, why would that surgeon already be "very optimistic" about her recovering?

I don't watch Truther videos, Birther videos, Moon-hoax videos, Bigfoot videos, anti-Fed videos, etc etc.

or in other words, I don't watch videos produced by nuts.
You really should watch it. You wouldn't be here wondering why I think he's schizophrenic if you did.

She's still alive, and the bullet passed from temple to fore-head, missing most vascular systems, and leaving most of her brain intact. Although she's likely going to face years of therapy.

The texts are widely available for you to read instead of watching the videos. I believe all but one of the videos are just screens of text, anyway. You are just reading, not really watching anything.

The only one that isn't is the flag burning one, and I think you don't need to see that one...he burns the US flag...

There's "alive" and there's alive. I hope it's the latter.

If I remember anatomy class correctly, that region of the brain (frontal lobes?) has a lot to do with personal identity.

Palin published a map of the USA, with gunsights for every Congressmen she didn't like. You move your mouse over the gunsight and the member's name pops up.

These maps are on page 3 of this thread. Palin removed the map within hours of the shooting.

And the candidate who ran against Gifford in November held an event calling on folks to remove Gifford from office, by shooting at a photo of her with a fully-automatic M16.

Those "sights" on the map are representations of the crosshairs of a telescopic sight. Shouldn't our shooter have used one if the map triggered him? These sights are typically on rifles, although you can mount them on handguns. Why didn't he use a rifle with a scope to duplicate the map?

Christina Taylor Green, born on 9/11 died today in the Arizona Mass Shooting.

"Christina Taylor Green, nine-year-old victim in today's Tucson shootings, once was an infant designated to be a "Face of Hope" by virtue of her birth on September 11, 2001. She was one of the children born on 9/11, reports Tucson blogger David Abie Morales, and she thus featured in the book by Christine Pisera Naman which was dedicated to all the babies born on the day the World Trade Towers in New York City were taken down in an act of terrorism."

The thing is that there is no evidence at this point that this had anything to do with politics, no indication that it had anything to do with left vs. right, no indication that it had anything to do with partisan politics or rhetoric, and no indication that it was anything but a disturbed individual shooting rather indiscriminately.
So, in my view, it would be preferable to stick to what we know at present (as limited as it is) rather than turn it into a left vs. right dichotomy.
I'm pretty sure that the 9 year old girl was neither left nor right, after all.

Thank you! I was saying this for most of the first 18 pages of the thread, and I was attacked by various people for trying to "silence discussion" because "they were only speculating". I admonished more than one person for not practicing the skepticism that they preach. Nice to see that I'm not alone.

What a pack of bloody, trolling, bottom-feeders some folks have become

Again, there is no evidence to date that this has anything to do with political rhetoric, and no evidence that the suspect held any particular political view, so instead of playing the left vs. right game, how about just sparing a moment's thought for the victims of this horrific act without politicizing it?

Good luck with that, Lash. I've been pissing up that particular rope most of the day, and it has left me quite cynical and jaded.
