Un-****-ing believable. Local CBS tv news prefers to talk about the Jets win first, instead of this attempt at political assassination and the murder of a Federal judge.

The priorities in this nation are ridiculous.

Here in Louisville, local news reports of the outbreak of a nuclear war, the start of a smallpox epidemic, and the resurrection of the dead would all fall behind University of Louisville and University of Kentucky basketball reports. If the ballgame was still on, there is nothing in the world that would pre-empt it.

Unless you argue that the three people who took/held him down are the actual murderers and they put the stuff in his hands and pockets, I'm afraid the evidence is in. There may well be more evidence, but , again short of those three collaborating and picking a randomly present person to blame and plant stuff on, he did it.

Canada here. I think the difference here is a lack of prominent and radical partisan media. People would obviously view this incident as something to do with politics but there's no left or right media worthy of blame. He'd just be another loon to people of all political persuasions.

The attack in Tucson was bad enough. But what I also find disturbing is the response. I don't believe that the U.S. has always felt like it's on a knife-edge, and I suspect that we won't always feel this way. If our Anglophone cousins are any guide we don't have to feel this nervous around each other but can still have a rich, democratic political culture.

I'm amazed there wasn't, this being Arizona. I haven't been there in 15 years, but back then a car was as likely to have a gun in it as a spare tire. And this was in the Phoenix area.
