Merged Rep. Giffords Shot In Tucson

I find it disheartening how the first thing people wanted to do was know about Republican or Democratic affiliation of victim and suspect.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Such a question does nothing more than play into the irresponsible kind of speculation I've mentioned before.

Yup, words don't matter. And words by Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Keith Olbermann, and John Stewart have absolutely no effect in the world, especially in the political world

If only there was a way to distinguish these people with television shows that millions of people watch each night from me and my posts on JREF.

I do take it as something of a compliment that you think I'm similarly influential.

conservatives and republicans never speculate right after a crime has been committed?

do you remember the OKC bombing?

He shot a politician. Wouldn't that make you question his motive, might be... political?

I'm scared to watch it. What was on it? Does he just rant about numerous things?

Not sure why - should have been expected. If a Republicker there is no politicality likely to be associated with the shooting - it's crazy, personal or family member dead because services cut off. But, if a Democrat it's almost certainly right wing crazy or tea bagger/influence. The first is a one off, the second a potential trend. Actually makes a big difference if you follow current US politics.

Take the ranting speculation I've seen here, then multiply it by a factor of - oh, let's say... 10,000,000 times, and then you can see how words matter in the age of the Internet.

I'm just trying to apply skepticism to this little corner of the Internet in this emotional situation. It'd be nice if other so-called skeptics would behave as responsibly.

It was just crazy white text on a black background. Whoever made the video is likely severely mentally disturbed, in my opinion.
