Chaos Magic

Oh, I see. So you can give an allegedly accurate account of the experiences of a stranger from across the internet but you can't accurately recall your own?
What are you talking about?

I never gave an account of your experiences.

Really? The forum history shows differently. You must be suffering from that memory confabulation you were talking about ;)

BTW, what were the contents of your auditory hallucinations, Pixy? Don't worry, I'll make allowances for your piss poor, confabulated memory.

I can recall my own experiences, but I fully expect my recollections to be inexact.

Wrong again. You haven't presented us with anything to test or investigate. You have presented us with a list of what seem to my unqualified eyes to be pretty obvious seizure symptoms; certainly if it happens again I'd suggest you see a doctor.

Now, if you have some actual evidence you wish to discuss, feel free.

Oh, and I'll note that once again you entirely failed to address the points I made.

This is misleading at best, dishonest at worst. You can hedge all you want, but you heavily implied Aku had had a seizure.

Rocketdodger was also caught putting words in peoples' mouths (or out and out lying). Is this what the computationalist position has been reduced to?

Hardly an answer.

It's your story. I infer - correct me if I'm wrong - that it was constructed in an effort to illustrate something about your other story. And yet, you once again refuse to discuss any of the relevant points.

So, allow me to edit it for you:

A man comes up to a group of scientists in the early 19th century and reports that he is hearing voices, and what they are saying is true but there's no way they voices could know these things. Then he refuses to discuss anything further except that the scientists' suggested explanations are necessarily wrong, because he knows what he knows.

The scientists take pity on him and give him a ha'penny so that he won't get picked up for vagrancy, then close the door and get on with discovering the electromagnetic force or enzymes or some such. Everyone lives happily ever after.

Really? The forum history shows differently.
Nope. I never gave an account of your expereince, not in that post nor anywhere else.

BTW, what were the contents of your auditory hallucinations, Pixy? Don't worry, I'll make allowances for your piss poor, confabulated memory.
You'd be far better off making allowances for your own. Let me see you attempt that before I burden you further.

Gud lurd... If I had realized you were this comically dense, PixyMisa, I'd have stoped taking you seriously years ago :p

No, it's perfectly true.

You can hedge all you want, but you heavily implied Aku had had a seizure.
Sure. So? Do you consider that implausible?

Rocketdodger was also caught putting words in peoples' mouths (or out and out lying). Is this what the computationalist position has been reduced to?
Reduced to pointing out your basic errors in comprehension and logic? My dear chap, we've been doing that since the discussion began.

No, it's not. You denied giving an account of Aku's claim.

In fact, you heavily implied he suffered from a seizure. You were quite explicit in your reasoning. That qualifies as "giving an account".

I really don't know. I'm responding to your claim that

You did. Come clean and admit it.

RD was called out by multiple people for his misleading claims. Now you too?

Oh, and I'm still curious about the content of those hallucinations, PixyMisa. While your memory may be shoddy and your integrity seriously questionable, I'd still like to hear you out :)

It's a possible explanation. I never said what AkuManiMani experienced; I suggested a reason why.

So, no. Not that it matters. If you really want to call an explanation an "account", feel free.

Do you grasp the fact that your own memory is unreliable, that your memories are constructs?

Until you understand your own fallability - and stop with the pathetic ad homs - I see no reason to trouble you further with reality.

What was the "ad hom"? The part where I asked you about the contents of your auditory hallucinations, or the part where I recognized the potential unreliability of the account you'd give? ;)

Me and everyone familiar with the meaning of the word.

Definition of ACCOUNT
1archaic : reckoning, computation
2a : a record of debit and credit entries to cover transactions involving a particular item or a particular person or concern b : a statement of transactions during a fiscal period and the resulting balance
3a : a statement explaining one's conduct b : a statement or exposition of reasons, causes, or motives <no satisfactory account of these phenomena> c : a reason for an action : basis <on that account I must refuse>

Rather than admit this trivial fact you once again dig in your heels and pretend to be infallible.

Yawn.

I'm afraid this really only shows that you are using differing connotations of the same word.

Pixy actually did not recast what Aku experienced. He provided an alternative explanation for it. I don't happen to agree with either explanation -- Aku's or Pixy's -- but it is not the case that Pixy recast what Aku actually experienced, which was his point.

The fact that this issue of contention is what Aku and Malerin are so intent on championing speaks volumes. Never mind the actual point,...
