Witness describes explosions at North Tower

Yeah, absolutely disgustingly filthy, isn't it. Ew.
Can't see any flames tho I'm afraid. No matter.

It's not filthy, that's a solid top stove. Consists of a large (gas) burner in the middle of a large sheet of steel (sometimes it has removable plates in the middles so it can be used as a honkin' great burner).

Chefs love them because you can vary the heat easily just by moving the pan further or closer to the centre, they also look 'dirty' because it's been seasoned by use - much like your steel skillet.

Here's the first, easy to find picture (right hand side of the range), all of the ones I've seen and worked with eschew the burners for a one solid surface

(Sorry Tri, tried your links but they asked for login :( )

Yeah, it's the Hobart site. I will download them and upload them to Googledocs or something later.

Wtc7 was rated as a class A building for re-insurance purposes-
NO NATURAL GAS SERVICE ALLOWED - PERIOD !

Go to 3:17. That's a gas cooking top. It's square. Electric are round.

Gas lines feeding gas-operated systems are safer than propane tanks. I mentioned before that there is a greater chance of catastrohic explosive events from propane tanks than from gas lines.

DAT-SO Lefty ??
YO diaper be stinkin' from too much thinkin' .... Bic ?

You haven't missed much, the foods not that great and the drinks are "pricey".

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've heard. For the money, I'd rather spend my time in the north end and mike's or trying to find some korean food :p

You do realize that everyone else was discussing WTC 1 and 2 and not all of us realized that you had derailed it to discuss WTC 7, but just thought, because of your less-than-crystal-clear use of language that you were trying to infer from WTC 7 that there was no gas in WTC 1 and 2.

No. It's black iron. It has square edges. Electric stove tops have round burners and the pot sits right on top of the coils. Gas stoves, almost universally, have retnagular bridges over the flame so that the pot will not sit on the heat source. Sometimes you just need to know what to look for.

You're questioning the observations of a professional in the food service field here, which just goes to point out how so many whacko theories can arise out of nothing. Itis not a good idea to assume that your own experience in a single field of work or study gives you all the keys you need to unlock a mystery because what seems an anomoly, from the perspective of your particualar discipline, is not at all odd.

No. It's black iron.
You wouldn't catch me eating from anywhere that lets their appliances get into that state. Appliances are nice and shiny in restaurants I eat in :)

No I'm not. I'm saying I don't see any flames

You'll note the inclusion of *no matter* on my post. aka whatever, don't care, not bothered, ...

Methinks thou dost protest too much. lol.

Where were the kitchens for WotW located ?

Were there any NG lines in the upper levels of WTC1 or not ?

You're making this too easy.

The frame on which the cooking vessels on a gas stove sit are almost universally made of cast iron.

If you cannot feel the impact of a boot to the nads of your argument, you are going to be the laughing stock of this thread for some time. Your next post also shows a lack of knowledge of cooking equipment.

No I'm not. I'm saying I don't see any flames.

Well, of course you don't. It's a gas stove. The burner is smaller than the diameter of the pot. If the flame were visible beyond the bottom of the pot, it would be a patheticly inefficient flame. Any old mess sergeant knows this.

We have no evidence one way or another at this point.

I believe that the subject was things that go "BOOM!' other than bombs.
The subject of gas was brought up mostly to support the idea that you really need to know an awful lot about what is in a building to call any feature of its destruction an anomoly.

Most critical factor here is that "explosions" in a fire do not mean what a schmuck like Graeham MacQueen or Dylan Avery think they mean. Any hose dragger with more than a month on the job expects crap to blow up.

You're making this too easy.
Making what too easy Lefty ? I can assure you that I don't eat in restaurants that let their appliances get into that kind of state

I do like the heartfelt sense of authority with which you make this statement. Funny, but heartfelt.

Believe it or not Lefty, I've seen a few cookers in my time. One of these days I'll have to think about getting one, as cooking my breakfast on a pile of twigs on the worktop every day really annoys the local fire brigade for some reason

If you cannot feel the impact of a boot to the nads of your argument, you are going to be the laughing stock of this thread for some time.
And again, what would that argument be Lefty ? You really should try some deep breathing. Good to calm the nerves:)

The heartfelt indignity of it all. Really Lefty, how are the drama classes going ?

Your next post also shows a lack of knowledge of cooking equipment.
That. Is. Some. Funny. Excrement.

You've made my eyes leak :)

Hobart ranges with the plate tops on look pretty much identical whether gas or 'leccy, but sorry Lefty, I really don't care, because...

We have no evidence one way or another at this point.
Well keep searchin' then. Chop, chop :)

You have no idea how weak that response makes all you other crap here look, femr2. Seriously, go back to school and fill in tyhose gaps.

If you type a little less rabidly, you'll make fewer mistakes.

Seriously ? Okaaay.

Go back to school ? I didn't know that they taught Hobart range plate cooker fuel type identification in schools these days

Observing your behaviour is mildly interesting, and pretty funny.

What you seem to want to argue about, not interesting at all.

You know absolutely nothing about cooking gear, yet you jump all over a comment made by a food service professional, suggesting that what looks to that food service professional like a perfectly clean gas stove top is"filthy." This just tells me that you spend an inordinate amount of time blathering about stuff you do not understand.

Priceless Lefty. Thanks for the giggles.

Jump all over ? Me ? Awesome :)

As I said, You wouldn't catch me eating from anywhere that lets their appliances get into that state. Appliances are nice and shiny in restaurants I eat in :)

What is hilarious is that you, seriously, suggested that I go *back to school* (the kids would love that), to fill *tyhose gaps* in my intimate knowledge of the Hobart catering ranges. Great stuff Lefty. I guess you can't see the tongue-in-cheek nature of my dialogue with you. Shame. Now, where is my flint. I need to get them thar twigs on my marble worktop fired up for a bacon sarnie :)

And this is absolutely false. 100% FALSE.

Here is a side-by-side of two Hobart ranges.

Now, they look identical to you?

Well, I guess to truthers they do......I mean, considering a CD looks exactly like a top-down collapse.......

As I said, You wouldn't catch me eating from anywhere that lets their appliances get into that state. Appliances are nice and shiny in restaurants I eat in :)

The part that is supposed to be shiny, is shiny. The cooktop, which is cast iron, is designed to be.....black.

You have proven yourself incapable of assessing a photgraph of a stove top and then you expect us to believe you have a bloody clue how to assess video of a building collapsing. WOW! Just WOW!

I have never seen anybody so passionately lay full-auto fire on his own feet.
