'For the people'? Indiscriminate censorship of anything they regard as uncomfortable and prosecuting anyone who uncovers it?
'For the people'?
Not prosecuting. Killing. Secretly.

You're obviously wrong, since Assange already made the decision.you don't get to decide which info gets exposed.
Neither does Assange.
We elect people to do that.
And if it gets leaked and turns out NOT to document illegal activities...then those responsible for the leak should be held accountable.
There is ample U.S. law which dictates that an American releasing classified info without permission is illegal.

You deny this?
For whom?
I thought this was about the wikileaks guy, who is not American.what does that even mean in this context.
It's illegal for AMERICANS to release classified U.S. information.
And you ask "for whom"??
what?
I dispute it. I don't believe it is always necessarily illegal to publish or release classified information without authorisation, so I would like to know which particular law you are referring to.

If he is willing to put the U.S. lives at risk and those of our allies, he should also be willing to put his own at risk.
you should really re-read my posts...since I've clarified repeatedly that:
1) any Americans who illegally release classified info should be prosecuted
2) any non-Americans who act as a conduit for this info should be asked not to release it, as Assange has been repeatedly, and if they fail to do so, and it's in the U.S. National Security interest, other more drastic measures should be taken against him...since I believe him to be an enemy of the U.S.
If he is willing to put the U.S. lives at risk and those of our allies, he should also be willing to put his own at risk.
Yes, American's allies (whose primary responsibility is to protect their own, non-American citizens) would be very interested. So if they are American, obey the law and prosecute them.
I they are not, ignore domestic and international law and murder them.
If thats the case I can only hope for one thing.., that Wikileaks exposes it.
As far as I can tell, the executive orders only details how classified information should be handled by the government. They do not, (and, in as far as I know, can not, seeing as they are not legislation) make it generally illegal for a citizen to publish a classified document.
So if they are American, obey the law and prosecute them.

my friend, a mere U.S. citizen didn't leak this info...
someone in a Government position who is RESTRICTED by U.S. law did.
The CIA, and in fact ALL foreign spy agencies, break international law from time to time.
That's the nature of the biz...
When a covert CIA operative is listening in on Putin's meeting's, I doubt he's doing it legally.
Yes, but you made the claim that it was generally illegal to publish classified information, period. Not that it can, in some circumstances, be illegal. Nobody's disputing that. So, are you now limiting your claim and if so, to what degree?
