I do not believe that common sense is capable of providing consistent answers to complex problems.

"Common sense" tells you that that the WTC collapse could not have happened the way that NIST claims. However, it tells me the opposite. MY common sense tells me that the NIST's explanation makes perfect sense.

We cannot both be right. So does "common sense" give correct answers, or does it not?

The scientific method gives the same answer regardless of who uses it. "Common sense" gives different answers depending on the user. But there can only be one truth.

Is this not a narrow, constricting, even simplifying description of the infinite complexity that is the human mind?

And what if we were born with a slate upon which there were already some "writing" on it?

Would this not explain why and how all infants possess the extraordinary ability to learn syntax, the remarkable capacity to learn language?

A local rib joint has their own brand of sauce and dry rub know as "TBQ sauce" and named after the proprietor "The Tunnel BBQ".

In keeping with the tradition of "secret sauces" it's rather basic, a mixture of ketchup and mustard, spiced with garlic powder, some dry chillies and dry mustard. Nothing special, but delicious nonetheless.

I'll be keeping a bottle on hand just in case I need to eat my hat.
