Rand Paul supporter tries to 'curb' a Moveon.org member

Those videos aren't very clear. For example, what you see as shoving a sign in the window, looks to me like she realized that it was backwards and spun it around.

LOL! You got one thing right. The video does shows the sign wasn't facing towards Rand Paul the first time she shoved it in the window, so she pulled it back out, turned it around, and then shoved back in again. And the second time, you can clearly see that about two-thirds of the 2.5-3 foot wide sign is inside the car. I have no doubt she would have shoved it even further, and probably waved it around inside the car, had she not been forcefully pushed away from the window at that moment by the grey suited security guy who ran in to protect RP.

In her interview she says she was fleeing someone and ran around in front of the car.

Except the video doesn't show that. There is no one running after her as she comes around in front of the car like a maniac.

There doesn't seem to be anyone behind her for the 2 seconds

I'm glad you are still at least enough in touch with reality to agree.

the assault happened within the same time frame.

I will agree that the man who put a foot on her shoulder/neck didn't need to do that. And you clearly hear him being scolded by the other RP supporters when he does. But Rand Paul security had every right (and obligation) to block her approach with whatever force was necessary. And because she (as one can see in the video) was trying to evade them and still move towards RP when she came around the front of the car, they were right to take her to the ground. At which point you can hear the RP supporters saying "call the police".

You really should look at her record. I think you folks have picked the wrong person to be your icon. She has a long history of being a paid activist and trouble maker. In May she was arrested and charged with a felony for vandalism while protesting *something* about the oil spill. In August of 2008, she was arrested in China during the Olympics. In April 2008 she was arrested in New York during a protest against Citibank. She's a professional protestor for far left wing causes. She gets her kicks from getting attention and outrageous behavior. She has been stalking Ron Paul and even admits it. She is just the type of wacko who might indeed injure someone in the name of her current "cause" and then claim the ends justify the means.

Please stop using Nazi imagery to describe conservatives. Lefty might think he's not needed anymore.

oh, wait...

Nazi imagery should be only be used to launch a ring-wing pundit's career.

What happened is wrong. Flat out wrong.

There are few reasons to pull someone to the ground and step on them deliberately.

Disagreeing with your political views is NOT repeat NOT a good reason. She did NOT deserve it. For everyone who is saying she 'deserved it', you are wrong, you are morally bankrupt. I don't care who did it. It is wrong. Conservatives do it? Its WRONG. Liberals do it? its WRONG.

This, however, has certainly coloured my views of certain people on this thread. All I'll think about them is 'They felt it was fine that a woman was stomped on'.

How many have said that?

So vote Republican.

Lol...well that was quick...i the length of time it took me to get back to work, you post, and then get suspended.

I cannot vote, i am a concerned brother to the north. My views are still left, i just get annoyed with the hypocrisy that i see on my own side of the aisle.

Yes, all very excellent points.

So in other words, you can't really contest anything I said or observed. Good.

It's important to remember that when a woman is violently assaulted by two men

First of all, these people were security, who were clearly acting to protect Rand Paul from what appeared to be a persistent and already proven dangerous (shoving a rigid sign into a moving vehicle in the face of a Congressional candidate is no laughing matter) maniac. They had every right (and it was their duty) to grab the women and force her to the ground when she persisted in her attempts to approach RP. And the video clearly shows she tried to evade capture and continued to struggle when they seized her. And she was clearly playing it up for the cameras. You can even see her smiling during part of this (or is that a maniacal grin). Also, this *poor injured, beaten and kicked senseless* maniac, who now says she can't remember anything clearly when she was on the ground, immediately got up and a minute later was giving a *seemingly* coherent interview for the TV cameras. What's that tell you, jk?

As BAC pointed out, this woman is clearly a liar and a leftist wacko, and perhaps women who lie and vote Democrat deserve to be violently assaulted.

If you want to rest your case on that sort of bogus logic, go ahead. You show your own colors, jk. I stated (and the video shows) very clearly why she needed to be subdued. It has nothing to do with being a liar and a democrat. It has to do with her acting like a maniac in the presence of a leading Congressional candidate. Nor have I said or implied even once that the person who put a foot on her shoulder/neck was in the right. There clearly was no need for him to do that. But then in moments like that, emotions, adrenaline and testosterone can run high. As far as I can see, no harm no foul. If it turns out that hospital records show she suffered a concussion (because I'm not going to believe ANYTHING that she or MoveOn.org claim at this point), then we will need to determine if she suffered that concussion during the act of being taken to the ground against the curb or whether the *stomp* (and I use that word with skepticism) of the man's foot was responsible. If it was due to the former, then as far as I'm concerned, case closed. She got what she deserved. If it's due the latter, then she and the man can work it out in front of a jury. And I'm not sure a jury would find for her even then.

I hope i am not one of those people. I have consistently stated what was done was horrible, and assault charges justified. Calling for those of us on the left to remain accurate in our description of what happened is all i am asking for.

Clearly. Nobody who is paying attention to the thread can fairly suggest otherwise.

You are on the wrong side here, BAC. You really should think about that.

I think my posts show I have been quite thoughtful, SG.

Holding a sign for Paul to see vs getting a picture of Paul with the sign - the difference is hardly relevant

You are the one who made a big deal out of her not planning to get a picture of RP with the sign. So obviously you must think the difference important. :D

so why bother changing stories?

For the same reason you apparently thought it looked better if she was just there to "show" RP the sign. :D

As for "deep inside" the car window, are you serious? Who gives a rat's ass how far she stuck the sign into the car?

It shows that doing so was more than just an *accident*. It shows that you weren't being quite truthful when you described her as merely holding the sign "up to the open car window".

The jack booted brown shirt reaction to this person with a different political point of view than the Paul supporters was clear as day.

Well I guess we may find out what a jury thinks since Valle says she may take legal action. Hope she does. Because I think the video is "clear as day" as to what REALLY happened and why.

Maybe you didn't notice how wrong it was because you agree with this kind of behavior? Just asking.

You just don't listen do you? Because I've very clearly stated how I feel about the man putting his foot on the woman. But whether she has a winnable case is entirely a different matter. And given the evidence in the complete video and what we now know about her past and her paid reason for being at the rally, I wouldn't be surprised that if she persists in this, she finds herself the subject of a criminal investigation as well. Because what she did could be called stalking, menace and assault. Afterall, not long ago we had folks on the left claiming that it was "assault" when Congressman Cleaver was allegedly spit on.

No.. You've been the voice of reason. I've seen the video. And while foot comes close to her head, it was on her shoulder. She should never have been dragged down, and no-one should have placed their foot on her, for any reason.

We've got Brainster ('Uncalled for, but she deserved it!') and BAC ('She's lying! Look at what happened! She totally deserved it!')

Politics in this country is broken. People cling to their sides, that they will happily excuse violence against 'them'. I live in the US, but I am actually glad I can't vote, why? Because this garbage sickens me.

And if this happened to a 'rightist', these same people (And a few others) would be screaming about how evil the left is, how dare they!!!1!

Something that's being overlooked here. How did they know she did'nt have a gun or knife?

We know now she did'nt. But beforehand did they? You dont know the motives until after the fact.

Did anyone think the 9-11 hijackers were going to fly the planes into a building beforehand? John Wilkes Booth, the guy that stabbed Monica Seles,Squeaky Fromme, etc.
walked right up to their victim.

I find it odd no one has even considered that her motives may have been not so innocuous. What if a right winger had approached Obama or Pelosi,Reid, etc in the same manner?

Ohh to have a parallel universe mirror.

So.. If someone waving a Obama=Hitler sign comes towards me, I can knock them to the ground, and stomp on them?

Or are you just justifying the treatment of this woman?

Not at all suggesting that this excuses the behavior of the Rand Paul supporter.

I dont see this anywhere either
BAC ('She's lying! Look at what happened! She totally deserved it!')

As far as I am concerned when she was at or in the window of the car, in disguise, having already been noticed, whoever pulled her to the ground was right because she may have had a weapon and intended bodily harm or death.
I wonder what would be said here if she had shot him.

Should she have taken the cheap shot from the man with foot, no.

As far as subduing her yes. The kung fu foot was overboard though yes.

But it's real easy to sit here now and criticize with hindsight. At the time they did'nt know what her motives were.

Let me ask this? If an individual with a tea party sign approached a democrat in the same manner you dont think they would be taken down fast?

Dingdingding!

(Bolding added for emphasis)

Not at all suggesting that this excuses the behavior of the Rand Paul supporter. But this does indicate that she's a professional "activist". I would love to see earlier video of the confrontation to find out why people were asking for police help well before she was wrestled to the ground.

There you go. Summary 'I don't approve, but she's an activist, so it was deserved'.

Should she have taken the cheap shot from the man with foot, no.

As for BAC, I can not quote him, as I have him on Ignore, but the quotes I've read have him saying it was justified, because she was swinging a sign around.

She did not pull out a knife. She did not pull out a gun. She had an evil socialist sign...

So that makes it ok.
