Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Well one argument why one might say it is truer and clearer is because the New Testament motivated a person like Thomas Jefferson to take the time to cut out 900 verses of it and paste them in a book and call Jesus' teachings the most moral, pure, and sublime ever taught by man.

Yes, I know the not perfect Jefferson wasn't a mainline Christian who believed in the divinity of Christ but one has to wonder who created these most moral, pure, and sublime teachings that would cause Jefferson to do and say such a thing -- the lying Gospel writers.

The above -- along with the fact that solid historical evidence leads us to believe that it is more likely than not that the tomb of the historical person of Jesus was empty 3 days after he received the supreme punishment from Pontius Pilate (at least that is what the Roman Senator/historian Tactitus said - Christus received the supreme punishment from Pilate) -- all lead us to believe (along with the many other things I've mentioned in this thread) that the the NT is truer and clearer.

And as I've said before it doesn't even make sense for Christianity to be in existence to the extent it is (without the Resurrection being true) because the resurrection is the main focal point of the whole religion, as even the apostle Paul basically stated.

So now the existence of Christianity is proof that the New Testament writers told the truth and the proof of Christianity is the truth of the New Testament.

I'm feeling a bit cyclic right now.

Indeed, but my betting is that the existance of other religions will not be evidence of their truth so as soon as someone brings another religion in you will be able to stop spinning. Until then here is a sick bag.......

They say good things come in threes.

You can't hide smilies in invisible tags either, otherwise I could have brought a duck into the thread for the first time.
Really? They say that? That's gotta be painful after a while...

Yeah, I knew that from an attempt I made a long time ago. On the plus side, if you do it right, you get disembodied smilies floating in the middle of the screen. You can combine the use of the invisible tag with the bub tag to make more appropiate quote bubbles.

OK then.

DOC is the existence of Islam proof of the truth of the Koran or is the Koran proof of Islam?

Yes the antispin worked nicely, nice bag though.:)

What are you guys all talking about?
He! This is fun! I learned something today... Wait a minute! That must be what happened to all of Doc's evidences! They must just be invisible! Or maybe Jesus' body actually was in the aforementioned tomb, the whole time!

Don't you know?
I looked back through all of DOC's posts and Simon is correct. In every post of DOC's, the evidence is indeed invisible.

Yes, I noticed. I like it. Nice balance, really.

This duck. This one right here -->
What other duck would I be refering to?
Hey, you're a smarter jackass than I thought!
How did you make the invisible duck truly invisible?? :jaw-dropp

No, not a clue
And what compelling evidence it would surely be! How very gnostic of him! I am now in invisible believer!

What? You can't see him Pekin out?

No, not a clue

We were talking about Aberhaten and Helen being his Son Daughter.

I once had a duck, or should I say, a duck once had me...

Which posts?

Why don't you tell us since you and some others are so interested in this lesser known apostle.

DOC - I must thank you.

After all the fuss you made about how the fact that the apostles had been martyred was a big point in providing the evidence that the NT writers blah, blah blah.

So I was curious enough to do some research that showed that the "records" of the martyrdom of said apostles has not a jot of evidence or proof, and a couple of apostles were apparently martyred more than once - beating the record of JC in the process. Simon the Zealot has the all-time record!

You - not really surprisingly - said it wasn't enough, and promised to let me have the details "in ten days".

Now this feels like it was 300 years ago, but I, and everybody else, are still waiting, though no longer with baited breath. :) I even offered to make it easier for you by asking for Simon's details only.

Now you're behaving like this is all brand new to you - I assume this is one of the ways to "lie for Jesus"? DOC - this forum is meant for discussion - so please start - and make it soon.

Is it normal and acceptable for a Christian to renege on a promise? Or was it a lie when you made the promise? So, is it all fine and dandy to tell lies? Is this an example of the "Christian Spirit"?

So - come on DOC - when, where and how did Simon the Zealot die?

You were so confident in your case when you were making the claim concerning martyrdom.

It now looks like you never thought that anybody would pick this up and run with it - like so many other statement you've made (the Jefferson stuff just before this is a perfect example) - so now you're trapped in a corner with now way out.

DOC - I am sincerely interested if there is any evidence regarding the martyrdom(s). So if you've really got any, then give - as the saying goes "Pi$$, or get off the pot!"

OK - so I'm not expecting to get anywhere. I'm thanking DOC for confirming my views about him/her. I suspect the next related DOC post will be to ask for a post number.

DOC - I've "heard" that your ID stands for "Disciple of Christ".

It's looking more like "Devoid of Content" to me...

Ciao,

Ciao,

It is amazing. DOC said that we could know TNTWTTT because they died for their testimony. Now we can't find evidence of their death or rather we find too much.

So DOC just who did die for Jesus?

I'm sure this has been pointed out somewhere earlier, but people died for the Heaven's Gate cult as well.
