Socialist Dem wingnuts march on Washington

Keep him engaged. It might be just like a toofer being brought around. You can already sense the self doubt, the apologies for posting blatantly debunked crap.

Daredelvis

Don't bother, keep the left wing drivel to yourself.

ha, looks like he put that nutty laughable ex truther on ignore :)

No, I've never had a person on ignore (though Bill Smith is making a case to be the first) I just didn't deem your post worthy of a response. Sorry.

yeah i know that feeling, not funny when your believes get debunked.

I'm a Canadian, born in Toronto, living in Brampton.
Then why do you even give a crap whether Obama is a Democrat, a Socialist, or a Power Puff Girl.

I get people outside the US caring about his policies and what he is doing as president, but what party he affiliates with internally? why does that worry you so much?

Yes, I don't find myself getting worked into a frenzy over Canadian politics or politicians.

Canadian politics mean little to anyone outside canada. The usa, however, affects the world...it is a global superpower, and what it does effects everyone, especially its younger brother to the north.

TAM:)

Pierre Trudeau addressing the National Press Club in Washington D.C. (1969):
Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt.

As a Canadian I'm more interested in US politics than my own because the ups and downs of the US economy have a greater affect on my wallet than anything my government does.

Having said that, ProBonoShill is an interesting case. I live in Ontario but not near Brampton. In this neck of the woods you actually have to pay to watch Fox news. Do you get it for free ProBonoShill?

Your whole anti-socialist angle is interesting as well seeing as you live in a far more socialist country than the US. A country complete with a brand new and beautiful socialism run hospital right in Brampton. Do you protest your new hospital ProBonoShill? Will you be flying to the US when you get sick?

Yes let's do that:

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/08/socialist_party_of_america_rev.html

The Socialist Party of America announced in their October 2009 newsletter that 70 Congressional democrats currently belong to their caucus.
This admission was recently posted on Scribd.com:
American Socialist Voter-
Q: How many members of the U.S. Congress are also members of the DSA?
A: Seventy

Q: How many of the DSA members sit on the Judiciary Committee?
A: Eleven: John Conyers [Chairman of the Judiciary Committee], Tammy Baldwin, Jerrold Nadler, Luis Gutierrez,
Melvin Watt, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Steve Cohen, Barbara Lee, Robert Wexler, Linda Sanchez [there are 23 Democrats on the Judiciary Committee of which eleven, almost half, are now members of the DSA].

Q: Who are these members of 111th Congress?
A: See the listing below

Co-Chairs
Hon. Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07)
Hon. Lynn Woolsey (CA-06)

Vice Chairs
Hon. Diane Watson (CA-33)
Hon. Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX-18)
Hon. Mazie Hirono (HI-02)
Hon. Dennis Kucinich (OH-10)

That's 70 out of 255 Democrats in the House who are avowed socialists. You also wonder how many are still in the closet.

So the answer is still no.

You realize this is a skeptics forum, and evidence is required, especially for ridiculous claims as in the OP, right?

This was already debunked in another thread. If you try to find the "newsletter" cited, it was a hoax.

(Hint, the text was added into a third party's publication. The SPUSA doesn't even have an October 2009 newsletter)

What I find revealing is that you could believe it to be true.

Maybe he works for Fox "News".

I'll read the thread later, if it was a hoax, my apologies for not researching further.

How about this from wiki (sourced from the party's website):

The DSA's leadership believes working within the Democratic Party is necessary because of the nature of the American political system, which rarely gives third parties a chance politically. That said, DSA is very critical of the corporate-funded Democratic Party leadership.[9] The organization believes that

"Much of progressive, independent political action will continue to occur in Democratic Party primaries in support of candidates who represent a broad progressive coalition. In such instances, democratic socialists will support coalitional campaigns based on labor, women, people of color and other potentially anti-corporate elements... Electoral tactics are only a means for democratic socialists; the building of a powerful anti-corporate coalition is the end..."[10]

tl;dr

Then it would probably be a good idea to do some research before citing an internet hoax as evidence that US Democrats are "socialists".

It is interesting. I am also Canadian, though I live in the US (I am a legal resident Alien, booga booga!) And at times I find the US political system absolutely mind boggling.

I remember being stunned that I would actually have to worry about getting Health Insurance, and the slight panic with myself and my wife for the short periods I was unemployed to move me to her insurance policy (which was not as expensive as COBRA).

Despite the claims of people dying waiting for treatment in Canada, it doesn't seem to actually happen. I've been treated there, my parents, and my grandparents. They received the care they needed, with no payments at point of service.

As well, my parents are reporting that while the Economy in Canada wasn't doing well, it was doing better than in the USA, primarily due to tighter controls on the banks (And fewer banks as well), resulting in fewer problems with the housing market, and in fact, even strengthening the Canadian Dollar as compared to the US dollar!

Not to say that everything is roses in Canada. The Health Care system isn't perfect. As with anything, there are problems, and in regards to the economy, the Canadian Economy is close to the US Economy, so what happens in one country, can affect the other.

Perhaps ProBonoShill wants the USA to scrap any semblance of socialism, to try and bolster the economy in both countries, while he enjoys his government paid, and managed Health Care system.

As for myself, being a Canadian, the screams and cries of SOCIALISM! in the US really do make me laugh, because, frankly, it just isn't there.

Especially since, you know, having a host of socialist policies, a true socialist party that has seats in federal parliament and has elected Premiers, and plenty of socialist ideas in the Liberal Party, the idea of socialism as bogeyman just doesn't carry any weight...

...except you know, with the odd exception of people like ProBonoShill who are rather curious instances to be honest.

Anyway, this is a big reason a lot of the modern red-scare in America evokes laughter in Canada and Europe - all of us are living in states with socialist policies no one is afraid to call socialist and socialist political parties no one is afraid to call socialist - in fact, being called socialist can be a vote-getter - not a vote-scarer-away-er...;)

You're confusing social democracy with socialism.

Yes, but following from the American misconception. After all, what do Americans call Canada's government-run health care but a "socialist" policy - and while they are using it like an epithet, there's a kernel of truth to it. After all, it is kinda socialist isn't it?

When Obama did the watered down private health care bill this past year they called it "socialist", not "social-democratic"...

So I'm just trying to be understood by the primary audience here..;)
