Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

That's not how evidence work. Evidence should be verifiable objective facts that can be checked by all...

:D:D:D All that, just to be ignored. DOC, this is Simon, "Simon? Simon who? I cant hear him, la la la la la "

On the other hand, I submit as evidence the very statement you submitted:
I know of no one fact in the history of mankind which is proved by better and fuller evidence of every sort

I repeat, ANY OTHER FACT IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!

Actually I have to wonder how DOC could even say something like that, and not realize we have more historical evidence from single events which came later, during, or even earlier than the so called resurection. It boggles me completely that he could say that with a straight face.

I am now the opinion, that not only he is trying to convince himself, but he is even totally uterly dishonest with himself while trying to do it :).

Hey DOC, what's your opinion of Chick?

The reason I ask is that you've proven yourself as an ignorant and wilful liar in regard to your OP and I was wondering if you should be posting on Chick's site, instead of here.

I'm only asking!

I know... That's actually quite far from my longest post in this thread... It can sometime be aggravating spending so much time on answering considering that Doc will purposely ignore such answer to focus and 'no information attacking the messenger posts'...
Then again, I don't post or him (he is willfully beyond reasoning). Mostly, I post it for my own sake...

We're in the same camp, Simon. I don't know if DOC can even see my posts, let alone read them, but I enjoy posting for the sake of keeping his army of lurkers entertained while they wait for some evidence to appear, and I've managed to learn quite a bit along the way as well, not least because of folks like yourself.

No, there is no evidence for the supernatural parts of the bible. Unless you also count the millions of Harry Potter books as evidence for Hogwarts. Do you do that, DOC? If not, you are engaging in special pleading. Are you engaging in special pleading, DOC?
So then you don't feel an empty tomb {justifiable according to the cannons of historical research} is some evidence for the possibility of the resurrection being true?

Oh no! I'll have to rethink my theories!

Now you tell me that Thomas Arnold wasn't an eye-witness to the resurrection?

Thanks a bunch, folks!
So then you believe historians should only write books about events they have personally witnessed and you would not buy Shelby Foote's 2 volume best seller on the Civil War because he didn't live during the Civil War?

Apart from the fact that this stupid red herring of a question is completely non sequitur to RoboTimbo's post, where is your evidence that this alleged empty tomb even exists?

What the hell are you talking about, DOC?

You are feeding ammunition to your opponents.
There cannot be anything that is 'supernatural'.
There is nothing 'super' beyond the 'natural'.
All that 'is' or exists is natural.
Nothing can be or exist that is not natural.

Since you brought this up I have the right to respond to your point.

How come scientists say that there are no known natural forces that could cause the Big Bang? Therefore it is beyond the natural.

Except that you won't. You'll just type some random drivel about a completely unrelated subject.

Go me! I has teh precognition!

:boggled:
I've got an empty biscuit tin. Is that proof that my 'bourbons' and 'ginger-nuts' walk the earth?
Seriously, DOC you really are undermining your own integrity when you post stuff like that. Read it through to yourself a couple of times and then see if you'd like to stand by it!

I reckon the Big Bang was probably caused by the cannons of historical research. They sound like they'd be pretty loud.

Well you might not like Oxford professor Thomas Arnold whey he talks of the historical Christ but you've got to admit this man knows a thing or two about history.

Doc in the 200 or so years since Mr Arnold was active there have been a lot of advances in our knowledge of history and also the practice of historical study and enquiry. Heck, in the 27 years since I left University having studied history, how it is looked at and how things are explained has changed manyfold. Why keep brining this guy up? Your appeal to authority is SERIOUSLY dated.

So you're another skeptic who believes old historical writings are basically inaccurate historical writings? If that was the case though it seems odd that people would pay up to $60 for used copies of his historical books as shown above.

So then you don't believe evidence of an empty tomb increases the probability in any way that the resurrection occurred?

Ignoring the ridiculous straw man you are attempting to create out of Parsman's post, are you seriously trying to claim thet the accuracy of information contained in old books is directly proportional to how much people are willing to pay for those books at Amazon? Srsly?

Really??????
