NEADS in Rome NY was patheticly equipped.

Java, Imagine you're a 19 year old USAF Specialist trying to decypher one target from hundreds on your screen and they switched off the transponder, how long would it take you now to check each target?

About one radar sweep. I'd guess it would be that big blip without a transponder code.

As a 19 year old USAF Specialist I would have to be trained to do that. After all I don't expect enemy aircraft entering US space to have the courtesy of turning on their transponders.

does anyone know whether NORAD could even coralate thier radar data with the transponder codes from the FAA radar network?

On the NEADS MMC 2 Battle tape you can hear "Huntress" Asking Joe Cooper of Boston ATC about the transponder Mode 3 for flight 11 at 8 minutes 37 seconds into the first tape run.

at 9 minutes 29 seconds we hear a scope monitor asking Huntress for the Mode 3. "Do we have a mode 3 on the suspected? Huntress replies "No we do not."

Here's info on Mode 3

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_traffic_control_radar_beacon_system

at 11 minutes 35 seconds into the first run we hear another operator asking Huntress. "Can you notify Boston center and get a mode 3 clarafication mam?"

at 11 minutes 47 seconds into the first run we hear Major Eusiphany stating.."We have to get a Mode 3, it will help us big time."

So they did have discriminator capability to single out the hijacked aircraft but without mode 3 to remove all the targets they would have to pick target by target and there was simply too many targets and too little time.

I guess the Cold War slipped your mind! Our fighters were still in "Cold War" phase before 9/11. That's why they went East towards the Atlantic!

DUH!:boggled:

Chewy is there a design limitation on US aircraft that only allow the to intercept eastward? Is there no air force base west of DC that could send aircraft east to intercept?

That's a good point. So it seems that, if there'd been an attack in progress by two Mig-25s from Bermuda carrying conventional bombs, the response on 9/11 would have been quite effective. It's unfortunate that al-Qaida stuck with plan A.

There's a limitation called Not Wandering Around Crowded Air Space At Mach 2 In Case You Bump Into Something. In the absence of a vector, the default was to fly directly offshore, which means that (a) the planes are well placed to intercept Bermudan Russian bombers, and (b) they're less likely to take out civilian airliners in accidental mid-air collisions.

"Not an excercise, not a test".

Where's the problem?

In a psyop, the distinction between 'real' and 'exercise' cannot be known. It would behoove this thread to carefully review the data and information concerning the military exercises taking place on 9/11, including a listing of all of them that are known about and available details concerning them.

It is also essential to review the name, rank of those people who could not differentiate real from exercise. Since Lynn Spencer's book has come up, it is probably useful to think a bit about this statement found at pg. 38 of Touching History:

"Even as NORAD's commander for the continental United States, Arnold is not privy to everything concerning the exercise."

A statement like that should result in 'alarm bells' going off concerning my oft stated proposition that:

The military exercises of 9/11 are a means by which and through which the events of that day could have been carried out.

I've got 2 words for you to understand: COLD WAR!

Why in hell would you think that an airbase west would make the fighters go East?

Bolling Air Force Base was nearest to the Pentagon, and yet they flew the fighters East because they thought we were being bombed by the Russians.

Thanks Dave!

Truthers can't learn to listen nor can they research things right. They failed history class because they looked at some piece of ***.

The FAA didn't know that at the time, however, and neither did NEADS.

Fox News did. They were speculating if it was accidental or terrorist act before the second airplane hit. Just look up the news clips for that day.

How does this fit into your overall theory? You know, the one you said you would post in the other thread?

(a) the planes are well placed to intercept Bermudan Russian bombers,

Where would they be placed? On Bermuda itself? Get this clearly through your head. A US fighter stationed in Halifax (that's Canada) could have made it back to New York in time to intercept the planes.

Plus there isn't much eastward from New York than lots and lots of ocean. So anything "placed to intercept" something coming from the sea would be west of New York and thus capable of intercepting the jet liners which are east of its take off position. Just like the Russian bombers from Bermuda. Which takes me back to Chewy's point which is actually supporting my position as just about everything is west of New York.

And they thought this because they saw the radar signature of the Russian airplanes? Or did Al-Qaeda hijack other aircraft that day to make it look like an invading Russian fleet?

Java Man, how is the abstract of your complete theory of 9/11 coming along? Does it have a sentence on NEADS?

No it doesn't that's why I'm finding this conversation so interesting. Hadn't considered the implications of this part.

I was pointing out that the FAA and NEADS didn't know that Flight 77 was hijacked and heading for Washington for the whole time you were talking about. So questions like "You're telling us the US doesn't have a single aircraft able to intercept a subsonic jet liner in a whole 30 minutes?" are a little misleading: they didn't have that much notice.

Java, you are aware that fuel tanks do not carry an infinite supply of fuel, right? This isn't Ace Combat.

Do you know what military thrust is? With that in mind, the flight is subsonic, it means the pilot swims. He will be shot down at 30,000 feet. Good one. Takes over an hour. Shot down short in about 30 minutes. A long swim.

All Foxbat would have to do is turn off the transponder and USAF Specialist wouldn't have been able to tell it from the other thousands of flights that day. That's what others here would have us believe.

In regards to the specs, they're clearly correct.

And they thought this because they saw the radar signature of the Russian airplanes?

FAA told them that there were hijacked commerical planes. You forget, the U.S. Air Force regularly conducts training excersizes every day for real world events, including days like 9/11. We know about the radar signature of Russian planes, the Cold War, remember??

Or did Al-Qaeda hijack other aircraft that day to make it look like an invading Russian fleet?"

Transponders indicated which planes they were. The FAA tracked them til they turned off the transponder, but they were still able to track them with conventional radar. You know, conventional radar like the ones used in WWII before the invention of the transponder?
