True, but it's a start, isn't it?

True, but I'm not sure if it's one in the right direction.

As a trivial example, Stalin's USSR or Mao's China would fit Marx's thinking as actually being _more_ in need of religion, as they tried to suppress self- or class-consciousness more than any western country at the time.

Hard logic -- nothing but hard logic.

You call this illogical, fallacy-riddled monstrosity, an abomination against all that is right and good in the world:

1. God's mind works mysterious ways.
2. God created Man to his own image, to his own likeness.
Conclusion:
3. God created atheists.

Since atheists exist, God must exist as well.

HARD LOGIC?!

Good GOD. The mind boggles.

The theory of God being the real deal just formed a Stephen Hawking style. Hard logic -- nothing but hard logic.

1. God's mind works mysterious ways.
2. God created Man to his own image, to his own likeness.
Conclusion:
3. God created atheists.

Since atheists exist, God must exist as well.

The conclusion needs some clarification, though, so it wouldn't trip over the non sequitur: What would you do if someone said that atheism is a synonym to communism?

I would click on some of the online dictionary of synonyms to find out if it's true or not.

Wrong. You conduct a poll.

Nooooo!

Yeeees. But only if your mind works mysterious ways.

So atheists are the image and likeness of God, right?

Yep.

Then who created the theists? Atheism is the antonym to theism (a poll may concur), so theist's mind cannot work mysterious ways, but the other-way-around ways.

Well, the Nature made theists in Africa and then they walked elsewhere. Heeeeeeere's Johny.

In that case, there is a contradiction that this theory cannot clear.

Oh, really. And what that might be?

A paradox. God creative tinkering means an "intelligent design," so he couldn't have created atheists.

Have you ever been to Siberia?

No, comrade Vodkov.

How do you like my theory?

It's the best I ever come across -- self-indicting, but bulletproof.

Aaah the commies of atheistic persuasion. LOL.
In all seriousness, are you high right now?

Is "hope" synonym to "faith?" Better not, huh? LOL.

If I meant the asaurus, then I would say so. What is the asaurus anyway?

Well, it's not alizard, that's for sure.

Otherwise, I suppose we'll have to run apoll to find out.

If you'll pardon my geek, I'm feeling increasingly as though we are trying to engage in meaningful conversation with a gibbering mouther.
There is no meaningful conversation when "meaningful conversation" is missing the indefinite article "a."

Is there an atheist around?

Can I borrow it for a sec?

-theist.

Thanks.

Here: "a meaningful conversation."

Go and meaningfully convert, I mean converse.

Since your first premise assumes that God exists, this is a circular argument.

Wrong. You conduct a poll.

Since the answer is a very clear "no" either way, it's rather immaterial which you choose, because atheism and communism are not synonyms and both approaches correctly lead to this conclusion.

Wow, it seems like everyone was having a lively discussion of the different forms of communism and their relationship to atheism and then epix came in with a total tangent. Can we just ignore epix and go back to the conversation? It was getting really interesting.

Would you do us a favor and go poop in someone else's pool. We have enough trouble maintaining the chlorine around here.

Not really, coz the object "atheists" in the conclusion never appears in both premises, which is a necessary requirement for circular reasoning which involves premise/conclusion structure. The logic is formally correct, but of a little real value, coz both premises cannot be verified to be true.

The poll way is exactly the way the commies would react when accused of evil deeds -- they always hid behind the "masses." I couldn't find one instance where communism was associated with atheism through a synonym. But I pushed the button to see anyway. The second strong similarity between atheism and communism is that the commies were always ready to launch a propaganda directed to the "masses" where the capitalism was painted with the darkest colors possible, the same way some atheists trash religions. But if you put yourself into the position of an atheists, what else is there to do? No pilgrimage to Galapagos Islands, no nothing. Booooring.
