Examples of U.S. Soverign Citizen (Freeman on the Land) Failures

His definition of "going too slow" is 100Km/h. Isn't that the maximum speed limit in Canada?

Well, here in the states our signs simply say "Speed Limit". I suppose it's up to interpretation whether that's the upper limit or the lower limit. :p

Here's a guy who earned himself 10 years in jail with this nonsense: http://missoulian.com/news/local/article_09b10b84-bc45-11df-aa0c-001cc4c03286.html A google search on him reveals he's quite the nutbar.

Told to rise for his sentencing Thursday morning, the convicted house thief refused to stand until two bailiffs quickly moved on either side of him.

"Are the goons going to pick me up?" Wilson asked District Court Judge Kim Christopher.

"It appears that's what will happen, sir," she answered.

Wilson then stood on his own accord...

:)

Whats sad is that your average FMOTLer would read that and then tell you its not that the guy was wrong, but that he created a joinder by obeying the court's admiralty authority when standing up, thus giving them the all powerful and mystical jurisdiction. Never recognizing the authority of the admiralty court is key to FMOTL mythology, so they are absolutely convinced that if you ignore everything the court says it has no power over you (sort of like the medieval superstition that knowing your "true name" could make people have magical power over you).

So, even though we have loss after loss and see people getting locked up for FAR more time than they would have if they embraced legal reality, to the FMOTL woos its always because of some mistake in the legal incantation. And since no court is going to allow you to ignore everything they say, they will find something like this in every single case.

Hey, when what you're referencing is only fiction, who cares if you get the volume right? I mean, like, which year was it where Hermione first learned "alohamora"?
First of course, to get into the forbidden corridor. And it's 'Alohomora'.:D

Alohamora would probably be used when visiting New Mexico from Hawaii.

Well, he references it and then immediately goes on to state how he breaks it. He's not "confin[ing] the course of the vehicle to the right hand half of the roadway," and he seems rather proud of it.

And then he's so confused when he gets busted for an act he knows to be illegal....

It seems that FOTLers think laws are perfectly valid. For other people...

His definition of "going too slow" is 100Km/h. Isn't that the maximum speed limit in Canada?

I also like the way he justifies driving between the lanes by saying that he refuses to tailgate. Couldn't he just, er, not tailgate? Is keeping a sensible distance between yourself and the car in front somehow against FOTLer principles?

Our signs say "MAXIMUM", not "Speed Limit". Takes that loophole out.

But we do have some roads that are limited to 110 kph.
So 100 is not the maximum speed limit here.

That said, I freely admit that I cruise somewhere between the speed limit and 5 kph over (traffic, weather, visibility and car* allowing, obviously). I isn't enough to get pulled over, but it does greatly reduce the number of people trying copulate with my rear bumper.

* For example, I stay 5 kph under the limit in my Continental (in good weather), because it's old, it garners rubbernecking which results in other drivers doing funny things, and it takes a longer to stop newer cars (which are half as massive and have braking technology some 40 years newer than the Lincoln's). And my Lincoln has front disc brakes! I'd drive slower still if it had drums. Anybody who's driven a classic car understands these things. Or they crash...

I declare this the most entertaining thread ever.

And the best thing is: it will be running for years.:D

Just the Wesley Snipes thing makes me sad:(
I hope he wises up and gets some real lawyers and tax consultants.

This video has been doing the rounds hailed as a success
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EzJsUExEDE&feature=player_embedded

Here's a couple of local newspaper stories about the filming.

Here's a snippet
Thompson, a local musician, also asserts he has no concerns about the court session being taped or about him uploading it to YouTube.

“It is my lawful right,” Thompson said about filming inside the courtroom. “We are collecting evidence.”

Under the Courts of Justice Act, no one is to take photographs or any type of electronic recording at a court hearing and can face up to a $25,000 fine or imprisonment of not more than six months.

However, Thompson said as “a freeman on the land,” the laws don’t apply to him.

“It is my land and bylaws don’t apply to me,” he said.

Thompson’s video, which has been viewed more than 23,000, on YouTube, has sparked discussions online. A posting on The World Freeman Society forum had more than 65 posts as of Wednesday afternoon.

In May, Thompson said he wrote the Guelph Police Service, Mayor Karen Farbridge, Guelph MP Frank Valeriote and the Governor-General claiming his rights as a freeman on the land.

A freeman on the land is someone who lawfully refuses giving consent to be governed and believe no statute or act of government applies.

“None of us are citizens,” Thompson said. “With me, everyone is equal, call that the musician in me.”

In August, he said bylaw enforcement officers showed up at his house with a summons for Wilfred Keith Thompson, which he said is a name owned by a corporation. He only acknowledges the name “Keith.”

Thompson said he showed up in court because he wanted to fight back against the uniform.

He said when he was 12 he was raped and beaten by a navy officer in Ireland, and that spurred him to make the court appearance when summoned.

He said he decided to have the film done and to post the video online to inform people.

“There is nothing unlawful with it.”

Guelph Police are investigating the courthouse filming.

I sense a problem brewing for Thompson and WFS, now they are on the radar we may see a little action by the authorities.

I lived in Guelph for four years as a student, and still go back at least once a year for martial arts seminars. Nice to see they're still pretty no-nonsense there.

And this bit is so Stundied:

The video in question was posted by YouTube user keiththompsonmusic. It’s been viewed almost 20,000 times.

It shows Thompson at provincial offences court. He refuses to identify himself as anything but “just Keith; nothing more, nothing less,” despite the justice of the peace asking him if he’s Wilfred Keith Thompson. The justice eventually asks for the man to be removed and calls a recess.

Yes, he's "Keith, just Keith"......unless he's trying to make money as a singer.

I think this counts as a 'failure'. I was mooching around the Icke Forum this morning & discovered the 'Talent' section. I found this gem of FMOTL idiocy.

Needless to say I kinda doubt that this guy will be batting record producers off with a stick!!

Does anyone know what rhyme scheme this is?

Did you notice my intent?
No what was your intent?
You did not notice my intent?
No your message never sent?
But it was filed in triplicate
Your notice of intent?
Did you notice my intent?
No I saw no document

In the UK speed enforcement doesn't start until 10% + 2mph over the speed limit. That's a guideline from the Association of Chief Police Officers and is adhered to 99% of the time. they can of course do you for .5 mph over if they want.

Certainly they can.
They'll be more likely to grab the people flying past me, though...

Well, that may be the posted maximum but in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), that's more of a practical minimum. I drive 100kph and do so in the granny lane (for mileage reasons) because being anywhere else would

a) under the circumstances be inconsiderate

b) potentially suicidal as minivan soccer moms tend to blow by me at 120kph+ on most highways (140kph seems to be the norm on the 400; people from Barrie always seem to be in a rush to get back there [don't ask me why])

and

c) potentially suicidal as truck drivers are supposed to be governed to 105kph maximum and take a dim view of any lowly 4-wheeler who might rob them of that 5kph differential while tooling along in the middle lane.
